I teach high school and had to report a boy for massive weight loss. His mom noticed but didn't know what to do. He needed 2 months in hospital to recover. He was & 15 in a world without this 'nouveau skinny' trend. Anorexia is contagious, and Ariana is a pathogen. Shame on her.

Jameela Jamil follows up her stance on Ariana Grande’s situation by citing the effect society’s normalization of anorexia in pop stars has on teenage girls,using the gap in access to medical care between pop stars and fans to make her point.

“I think it's worth considering that the pop star in question has access to a lot of mental health care and the best facilities on the planet, where as the fans watching, largely don't.

Many have no support system equipped to handle the deadly clutches of anorexia. Her most recent images are flooding pro-anorexia websites and teenage girls are saying "goals."."

@sitcomcrave She's right. Ariana knows what she looks like and who her audience is. She's a pathogen, if she's out there body checking and highlighting how underweight she is. I teach high school and the kids are side-eyeing her as desperate rather than following along, thankfully

@rem0rexic That's part of the worry too, she's past the age of being able to easily bounce back. That's why there's what seems like exaggerated concern now - life goes so fast, you have to get yourself ready for later life by being healthy for as long as possible.

It might help other people, which should be the focus now. This lady is clearly making the choice to look the way she looks, and in flinging it out publicly she's choosing to be a pathogen. Protecting the vulnerable from this should be the focus of discourse.
