New paper in JACC! Brilliant work led by Pedro Carvalho & team — proud to be part of it. IVUS & OCT both superior to angiography for complex PCI: 33-37% reduction in MACE • 17 RCTs | 13,751 patients • Consistent across all complex lesion types 🔗 https://t.co/O9bYkMSlNF
📢 New paper in Current Cardiology Reports!
Brilliant work led by Vinicius Pereira & team — proud to have mentored this one.
Adding cardiac CT to TEE for LAAO planning improves procedural success by 10-15%.

NEW STATE OF THE ART
Mechanical circulatory support (#MCS) in high-risk #PCI: evolving from limited RCTs to robust real-world data. This review integrates current evidence, examines practice variability, and highlights upcoming trials to address critical gaps. #EAPCI#Cardiology@enricoferroMD@rwyeh

Dogma says you can't use an instrumented radial artery as a bypass graft but what are the data?
Very interesting analysis in @CircIntv showing that radial graft patency is similar regardless of prior instrumentation.

ATS meeting athens- @will_go with an excellent talk around how prevalent is HBR? Upto 80% in patients undergoing pci aged >75
Will need a personalised approach re dapt duration using risk models such as @Drroxmehran ML ARC HBR risk model
Over the last three days, we’ve seen almost all pharmacological strategies presented at #ACC24 fail, including beta blockers, which seemed like the only certainty. On the contrary, if we are to believe in the results we've seen, we should start using more microaxial flow pump devices in STEMI-related cardiogenic shock, doing PCI in vulnerable plaques, and TAVI in low-risk patients. Perhaps a bit too much excitement for interventionalists all at once, wasn't it better to distribute it a bit more throughout the year?
@evandrofilhobr@gbiondizoccai Just thinking… Maybe one dTRA and one Ulnar. Both catheter only kissing in braquial artery. Since at least one puncture site is after the palmar arch, I suppose there would be a low risk of occlusion…
Multiple failed #Perclose post Impella. Heavily calcified CFA! Two 8F #Angioseals did the trick! This is how to do it
- Place two wires through the 14F sheath
- Remove the sheath and place 8F sheath on one wire and Angioseal using the other
- Then Angioseal using the second wire.
-You could leave a third wire for another bailout, just have to start with 3 wires.
