Carroll Fife just stood next to developer Colin Behring and sold his downtown data center to the public.
Behring Capital hired a City Hall lobbyist last year to “establish a relationship” with Oakland elected officials. Then Fife showed up at the press conference, told residents to calm down, and framed the project as “responsible development.” Thousands of Oaklanders signed a petition to keep data centers out, and their councilmember stood with the developer instead.
People are already saying she got paid. There is no public proof of a check, but there is proof of the lobbyist, the photo op, and a councilmember using her office to de-escalate opposition to a private equity play in her own district. That is the flip.
When it came to public safety, Fife never moved this fast. She fought to strip money from police and opposed basic tools other cities use to catch killers and car thieves. Public safety was treated like a slogan. A well-connected developer needed cover after lobbying City Hall, and suddenly she was available on camera talking about jobs and revitalization.
Connected money gets the meeting, the tour, and the councilmember standing next to the CEO. Residents get a lecture about “misinformation.” Public safety gets the leftover rhetoric. Allegedly paid or not, she chose the developer over the people who asked her to stop this.
Grateful for the @sfchronicle endorsement and their recognition of my experience and solutions to lead Oakland forward!
A new future for Oakland is possible—and it starts with voting for change.

Meet the other half of the Reform Dynamic Duo @Chris_Moore4Sup. Chris spearheaded the effort that led to the successful recall of the Alameda County DA. With @SenecaSpeaks21, they are leading the fight to rid Alameda County of public corruption. Ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things.
The most offensive and racist statement in this article comes from Earl Harper (Tur-Ah Ak), @carroll_fife’s husband, who claims that the Black leaders behind the recalls, @Chrisjonesmom17 and @SenecaSpeaks21, aren't capable of leading and that white figures like Sam Singer must be in charge. As someone directly involved with both recalls, let me set the record straight: these efforts would not have been successful without the leadership of Seneca Scott and Brenda Grisham. You won't find Sam Singer anywhere in the campaign disclosures - in fact, the DA recall team, including myself, met him for the first time about 4 weeks ago. How did the recalls get all the press? Look no further than Seneca Scott and Brenda Grisham with their connections to the press and leading the hottest stories in the East Bay.
The Progressive left in the Bay Area has consistently shown that it does not want Black community menbers to succeed. When Black leaders achieve real progress, the Progressive left try to tear them down. My goal is to replace the Progressive left with leaders who prioritize common sense and champion the success of Black voices like Seneca and Brenda, instead of undermining them.
Oakland voters have made it clear that we will not tolerate continued failed leadership. @MayorShengThao, you should have resigned with some dignity, but you are too arrogant and self-motivated. Finally, we can move forward with a renewed sense of hope.
Did you know in Oakland that there are ABOUT 35 police officers PER SHIFT to cover an entire city of 440k+ residents? Our city is divided into 35 police beats (divided into six districts, and it's SUPPOSED to be 1 officer per beat.
Example: district 5 (area 5) beats 26,27,28,29, and 30. There are 3 shifts per day, daywatch, swing, and dog watch. There are usually 1-2 extra units under a Sergeant, BUT that can change shift to shift, based upon staffing.
Vote Len Raphael for District 1. Zac Unger is so devoted to Sheng Thao that, as Union Boss, he even arranged union funds to support her recall fight just last week. We don’t need Thao’s puppet on City Council—elect Len Raphael for real change!

Oakland voters - you should be outraged! Affordable housing industry criticizes proposed Oakland labor policy proposal. Nikki UnFortunato Bas and Kevin Jenkins wanted to propose to divert tax payer money from Affordable housing to union special interest. https://t.co/eSGYHlWV9t
D3 rep Carroll Fife has made an earthshaking discovery… there is trash on the streets of her district!
D3 voters get to decide on November 5 if they want 4 more years of CM Fife.
Everyone LOOK!!
This is why @MayorShengThao can’t even raise 2k to fight her recall.
The @WellstoneDem are not “Democrats” - they are soggy DSA rejects and old bigoted white woke hill hippies who secretly despise the working class in the flats.
Does this audience look “diverse” to you? 🙄
🚨 This Just In!!! 🚨
@carroll_fife finally discovers there's an illegal dumping problem in her district! 🗑️
Because, you know, 311 SeeClickFix reports it all the time... but nah, Fife and her staff of FOUR are just too busy for that! 🙄💼
Please take the time to watch this incredible post from our very own council member! What an absolutely amazing way to Gas light the community. As if garbage on the streets of Oakland is something new. Next up, she will discover encampments are full of drugs and elicit behavior!
