Kostya Khudov, the Ukrainian next to me in this photo, could’ve fled Kyiv. Instead, he drove against traffic on Feb 24, 2022 to find me in the city. He stayed with our team every day since — coming under artillery, ballistic missiles, drones for us. @JeffBezos#SaveThePost
I’ve driven into hurricanes, trekked through jungles and camped on an ice sheet in sub-zero temperatures to bring you news about climate change.

Hi @JeffBezos. I'm proud to work with colleagues @FrancescaEbel@maryilyushina@RobynDixon__ who have fearlessly exposed Russia's brutal decimation of its own troops & economy in its pursuit of aggressive imperial expansion. Their work has never mattered more. #SaveThePost
🎯 ‘He was great at schmoozing and sometimes used befuddlement as a very effective tool.’ @willenglund and other colleagues on the dazzling career and all-around niceness of investigative reporter Gary Cohn. https://t.co/lb3X61IcYz
A very perceptive argument about the economic experience of plenty of Americans. Though taking a swipe at Ukraine at the end of the piece seemed a bit gratuitous.
Here is by far the best political/economic analysis of why Harris lost the election. Prepare to have your conventional wisdom challenged. By James K. Galbraith. @thenation https://t.co/WYvjFGstR3
The Baltimore Sun dissolved its features department Monday, reassigning its staff to news departments – the first time since at least 1888 the newspaper won’t have even one reporter dedicated to covering the city’s cultural life.
In today's paper alone: a comprehensive accounting of the NC flood deaths by @sarahkaplan48 et al; a review of theNavalny memoir by @willenglund; a useful list of the top art museums in America; a @katemshepherd/@NicoleAsbury story on big campaign spending on MD school boards...
For no particular reason, I’ve decided to try to use Amazon principally as a search engine to find stuff that, whenever possible, I will then actually order or purchase by some other means. Again, for no particular reason.
I realize “fight” must poll well because all the politicians say it all the time, but it makes me cringe. I find it unhelpful and divisive because it contributes to the us-vs-them narrative. How about “work,” “serve,” “organize,” “unite,” “vote,” “win”?!!!
For us nostalgics, could we have one refrain tonight at the Dem convention of FDR's 1932 campaign song, Happy Days Are Here Again?
"Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let’s sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again."

The @baltsunguild had a lunchtime rally today, drawing attention to concerns they have with their new(ish) owners, David Smith and Armstrong Williams. A short thread:
Yeltsin tried to come up with a Russian Idea, but nothing came of it. That left a vacuum for Putin to fill with his turn to anti-Western, militarized, orthodoxy. A powerful piece by @RobynDixon__

"When the Key Bridge opened in 1977, mastodons of the seas such as the Dali didn’t exist," @willenglund writes.
"Now they do, and now it appears that six road workers who were on the bridge have lost their lives." https://t.co/lKr2BrRwXy
