6 months ago, I had a dream of running RDR2 on an iPhone. I wasn't sure if it could be done, but I decided to try anyways, by building a general-purpose Windows PC games emulator for iOS.
I am extremely happy to announce that this dream has come true!
Red Dead Redemption 2 is running at 30+ FPS on an iPhone 18 Pro.
No PC, no streaming, fully on-device via Madeira.
x86-64 → arm64 with FEX
Windows → iOS syscalls with Wine
DX12 → Metal with the madeira-d3d12 runtime
What AAA game should we get running next?
Mario Kart World on iPhone 18 Pro via my private nxnative fork.
Physical memory usage is fairly low due to implementing userspace file-backed memory (swap like).
Disclaimer: I will not be releasing the code for this project anywhere.
@1bluean@shubshub11 When I say “slop” I am not referring to all AI generated code, just the parts of it that are sloppy or badly written or unreadable. All of my additions to nxnative were written by AI, with only steering and high level ideas from my end. Tbh just thought it’d fun to share lol
Sorry lmao the compression is so bad, but it seems to top out just under 6.5GB usage. This should barely run on 8GB phones like the iPhone 16. And actually it would run very comfortably with Stossy’s donor memory trick to bypass jetsam limit.
