Excited to share that my masters is now published in Infant Behavior and Development! We show that infants later diagnosed with autism have similar rates of communication breakdowns and repairs to infants not diagnosed , BUT they use different strategies to communicate

Reflecting on the many times I have doubted my place in SLT, when doing a PhD, when moving into academia, when writing this book..because I never saw someone that looked like me doing those things. So, this photo is for any minoritised SLTs and students in that place of doubt.
On Thursday, January 19 at noon Eastern time, I'm virtually visiting my alma mater @PittCSD for a *free* talk about my #research into spoken #narratives by #autistic adults of diverse genders. ASHA CEUs offered! Register at https://t.co/DJT7tXBnQx & please share widely! 📖💬

Final #ASHA22 tweet: I had fun! It was great to meet friends & colleagues I’ve only known online, and to reconnect with past/long-time mentors. Please enjoy this pic of me being a happy nerd with a research poster, and my completed bingo board with 4 almost-bingos.
Nothing quite like running into your bachelor’s research mentor after you get your Ph.D. and a faculty gig. 😊 I don’t think Jim Coyle is on Twitter, but he has my eternal thanks for setting me on this path. @PittCSD#H2P#PhDinCSD#ASHA22
I took a moment to recognize that my 6th paper was just published. Then I remembered that my first peer-reviewed pub came out in November 2020: less than 2 years ago.
Take *that*, imposter syndrome!!

If you want to read this paper but can’t access it, please contact me! I’m happy to share what I can.
And I can’t conclude this thread without shouting out my mentor & co-author @williamsd2139 and our research lab @PennStateCSD! 😊 5/5
Our lab is hiring a research assistant! Ideal position for a recent college grad looking for experience in developmental cognitive neuroscience before applying to graduate/medical school. Come work with a great group of people (and a lot of preschoolers) in St. Louis! Please RT!
