New DiRAC simulations suggest Saturn’s rings originated in a massive collision. Researchers from Durham and Glasgow Universities argue the rings evolved from the icy debris of two moons that collided & shattered only a few hundred million years ago

Yesterday after 6 months of waiting, @VRubinObs informed me that I can’t access #LSST commissioning data as a UK-affiliated astronomer because of my country.
It’s so frustrating to face discrimination because of where I was born and the government that I’m even against.
🥁 They're here... the first test images from the #DarkUniverse 🕵️ detective give us a tantalising glimpse of what is yet to come from a fully calibrated mission later this autumn 🤩

Is it narcissistic to Retweet a post about winning an award 🤔
From promoting equality to personalised medicine, the other winners are doing fantastic work and helping society to boot! I just make code go fast and make pretty pictures...
So proud of PhD student Will Roper for winning the @sussexuni Adam Weiler Award for outstanding impact in his research 👏🤩
Will has been instrumental in developing new computer simulations in astrophysics 🔭🌃 https://t.co/TwGwR28yr3
