BREAKING: After talking to @SecRubio, @SenatorRounds announces that the 28 point plan was a Russian document, not a US document.
Full @SenatorRounds: "@SecRubio did make a phone call to us this afternoon. I think he made it very clear to us that we are the recipients of a proposal that was delivered to one of our representatives. It is not our recommendation, it is not our peace plan. It is a proposal that was received. And as an intermediary, we have made arrangements to share it. And we did not release it. It was leaked. It was not released by our members or our representatives... This is an opportunity to receive it and that it has been utilized and delivered to the Ukrainians, and that they will have an opportunity to respond. And in doing so, you now have one side being presented and the opportunity for the other side to respond."
Russia has declared Yale University an “undesirable organization,” banning its activities in the country. In the announcement, the Prosecutor General's Office alluded to the late Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny’s attendance there.

So for those of you keeping track:
• Trump says he will end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. Putin tells him to pound sand. War is now worse than ever.
• Trump says he’ll solve the Gaza war. That war is now worse than ever.
• Trump tells Bibi not to strike Iran to give him space to negotiate. Bibi strikes Iran two days before talks.
Does it seem like world leaders respect Trump?
This is an unusual way of condemning Russia’s invasion: Rubio’s State Department sending congratulations on Russia National Day and pining for better relations.
Turns out the AIS system shows the draft of each vessel so you can see how low it's riding in the water. The @flexport ocean teach crunched the data for all container ships coming from China to the US west coast this week and found that they are riding 0.6 meters higher in the water than those that arrived 2 months ago. They're lighter bc they have less goods on board, so fewer ships are arriving in US ports and each is carrying less cargo.
Dmitriev's relationship with Steve Witkoff has been key for Moscow-Washington talks but here he repeatedly defers to the "diplomats" on questions about ongoing Ukraine negotiations.
Russia Asks to Buy Boeing Jets With Frozen Assets in US Talks. It would be absolutely outrageous if the US agrees to this instead of handing over the Russian assets for compensation to Ukraine. I seriously hope this isn’t even being considered.

Went to a concert with @guardian’s @chiggi and ended up at a political protest as the audience for a symphony orchestra (!) started to boo and catcall the US vice-president. Our report from a memorable night at the Kennedy Center.

Russia does not want a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine and is pushing for a long-term peace settlement that will take into account its interests and concerns, a senior aide to Vladimir Putin has said https://t.co/1OHcna3dNj
BREAKING: @SecDef walks back his statement yesterday that a negotiated settlement is not likely to end with Ukraine in @NATO: "These negotiations are led by @realDonaldTrump. Everything is on the table. In his conversations with Vladimir Putin and Zelensky, what he decides to allow or not allow, is at the purview of the leader of the free world--President Trump. So I'm not going to stand at this podium and declare what President Trump will do or won't do, what will be in or what will be out, what concessions will be made or what concessions are not made."
The United States is concerned by evidence suggesting foreign interference influenced the fairness of Romania’s electoral process. Romania’s leaders and future are for Romanians to choose, free of external manipulation aimed at impinging on their democratic process.
I was so honored to get to meet today with Evan Gershkovich to help welcome him back to the United States of America.
To Evan: You stood strong during your brutal and wrongful detention by Putin. You defended journalism and freedom of the press. We are so proud you’re home.
Glad to see @evangershkovich safe on American soil and welcome him to the Capitol. Journalism is not a crime, and reporters will continue to pursue the truth and hold the Kremlin to account for its brutality.
