For my ENGR 100 class at the University of Michigan, we designed mittens utilizing the thermodynamic principles of seals! They worked like a charm! I really enjoyed this BioDesign section. Sad the semester is already over 😭 Thank you Dr. Moore, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Getsoian, and Chae!
I’m our latest ENGR 100 lab, we modified quadruped robots. My group decided to use femur-tibia leg length ratios of horses to inspire the length of the little spindles on our robot. We were able to cut the cost of transportation in half. Very cool project, definitely my favorite
In my ENGR 100 class at U of M we found out that our homemade gecko tape that uses Van Der Waals forces to stick can hold onto surfaces at the same angle consistently while only being mildly affected by weight.
