@mytk56@kprather88 Hi Karl, thank you for the correction and for taking it in stride. As part of the collaborative team installing these particular monitors, I’d be happy to discuss their role in the larger campaign. In short though, they are absolutely an important part of the data story!
Glad to share our recently published study in ES&T Air evaluating 13 different air cleaners for PM and VOC removal under wildfire smoke conditions. We evaluated 13 different commercial and DIY air cleaners in a test chamber w/ pine needle wildfire smoke challenge

@CorsIAQ@UCRiverside I’m not sure about the total number, but I wish it were higher. Most of the boxes I’ve built have either been for study participants or as part of our undergraduate teaching labs. Would be great to have some sort of UC-wide challenge and tracker to build awareness and motivation!
Note particulate concentrations rising in the workshop room as participants get to work cutting and assembling cardboard, then quickly dropping below their original background levels just minutes after two finished boxes are turned on. (Data from a @quant_aq MODULAIR-PM unit.)
Just finished a busy month of indoor air filtration workshops around the dusty Salton Sea, helping participants build their own #CorsiRosenthalBox. The workshops themselves gave us a good opportunity to evaluate the filters, and the data are pretty clear: these things work!
@CorsIAQ I'm a little late to the posting party here, but I'm happy to report that I've helped to build around 120 DIY filters like these over the past couple years. Here's a #CorsiRosenthalBox that I recently put together for one of our classrooms here at @UCRiverside.
JOB ALERT: Come Join me @UUtah in Atmospheric Sciences, Biology or Geology (cluster hire, all ranks, starting as early as July, 2024)! ATMOS is especially looking for wildfire, drought, climate-bio interactions or extreme weather folks. https://t.co/mp2sMcCFcu
Getting ready to build hundreds of DIY air filters this summer to help Salton Sea communities keep their indoor air clean and reduce the spread of airborne disease. Many thanks to @VitalikButerin and #Balvi for supporting our work!
Come work with us (@willporter@kprather88 @SiyuanWang_PhD @ApelEricC ) in Boulder, CO and San Diego, CA. NSF-funded postdoctoral position characterizing marine VOCs. Reviewing applications now. Description and application instructions: https://t.co/XVdui0lnO4.
I have created a step-by-step guide to building a #CorsiRosenthalBox. Thank you @JimRosenthal4 & @CorsIAQ for approving it. Displaying it in waiting rooms, offices, schools, and libraries will help more people stay safe this season. Please DM me if you need a PDF or another size.
