The conventional wisdom taking hold is that the United States and Israel lost. But I argue in @ForeignPolicy that the war has left every major actor further from their preferred strategic end state. https://t.co/tuMBhcWZNx

Something I heard today: the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, which run even during Covid, is not happening this year. It was to be a summit. It is “postponed”. Speaks of the unease towards Beijing position during the war, as I wrote: less hedging going forward

The discussion about a shared financial fund for Iran after a potential agreement reflects a logic we have seen before in Gaza: transforming peace from a political project into an economic one. The objective is not merely to support the affected party, but to create a network of interests that makes a return to escalation more costly. At the same time, it reduces the financial burden on Washington by encouraging allies and partners to share the costs, while opening new investment and commercial opportunities for foreign companies. This approach is closely aligned with Trump’s worldview: if peace cannot be secured politically, it can be made attractive economically.
