@BornOnThirdCubs Yep, this is well receoved. That said, these teams under Counsell have endured some pretty long offensive slumps (pretty much every season) under his management. I think theres room for some selective emotional pleas to right the ship once in a while and mitigate the slumps.
@BleacherNation Sooo i launched out of my seat at Wrigley seeing the trajectory of the ball off the bat figuring a tape measure blast, and at the end Wood was moving swiftly toward the infield to catch it. Absurd.
@SecretMarquette@PaintTouches I think I know where you’ll go with this. Pretty much that they were put in untenable positions due to this roster construction, though i don’t think that absolves Gold of his shooting woes.
@Michael_Cerami Congrats on the scoop and beating all the nationl heavy hitters to it. Wildly impressive! You’ve come a long way since Brett made a (shrewd) decison to take you on!
@markstrot And yes the cost at the deadline for even decent players was stupid. I think there was a consensus on that. Not sure the cubs get much further with another arm (especially with Cade injury) and their window probably closes a few years shorter with a deal.
@markstrot Well, to be fair, everything was going as planned until about mid-June and then the Brewers went on a historic run that no one - including you- foresaw (and I could say the same about Kyle’s drop-off/injuries). I think hindsight makes for a neat but disingenuous narrative.
@CubsZone Have we ever seen a ball literally land right in front of third base on a throw that far away from center? I feel full appreciation of this throw remains months - perhaps years - away.
