Desperate of @SRUC and desperate for Cupar as SRUC mounts a fire sale of the contents of the Elmwood building. And the CEO claimed credit for saving Elmwood.https://t.co/8ncDWohSSz
This film is what the SNP have done to further education colleges: 55% of Elmwood students had additional support needs. When the college closed its main campus, these people were abandoned.
Interesting admission from @BenMacpherson that @sruc are pressing for a name change to university college. Very telling because it reflects the overriding interest to be an HE provider, not an FE provider
Good to focus on @SRUC Scotland's Rural College @SP_ECYP Education Committee today. Heard from Principal, @NFUStweets, union reps. They have been losing money but staff feel underpaid. So they have difficult balance to strike. Cutting deficit but keeping staff & students on board
Please pay attention to this. @sruc enabled by the SNP are shutting down further education, skills, practical training for Scots in favour of a university vet course for foreign students . . Because the latter promises £££. Watch https://t.co/UYjdVMtKe8
Today @sruc ceo tried to blame the demise of Elmwood on the "negativity" of protestors, but he was gobsmacked in the face of criticism from unions, students and local communities. Classic DARVO. @SRUC management are a disgrace and need to go.
@sruc CEO gave a very threadbare defence before a universal grilling by the Holyrood Education Committee this morning. Thank you @Douglas4Moray It looks like another Dundee University debacle in the making. Will the @SP_ECYP Committee intervene in time?
Attempting to consider shutting the gate after the horse has bolted: this looks like PR in the wake of community and political criticism that @sruc has decimated further education in NE Fife and land-based skills training more generally
Telling picture. This house is all that is left of the once substantial Elmwood college. The house can't even fit the handful of full-time, face-to-face students that remain.
@SRUC caught out by @C_CWarrender in @thecourieruk. An online degree brings nothin to Cupar since it can be located anywhere, or nowhere. https://t.co/HgTCgztXuj
£140 million for St Andrews Uni to revamp the Madras site while Cupar loses Elmwood & NE Fife students lose a local college. No clearer illustration of how unis are favoured over colleges https://t.co/D6fidRT0kp
Misleading photo on this article as the entire building is boarded up as SRUC wants to get it delisted, demolished, zoned for housing and sold for £££ to fund a new vet school in Aberdeen. New golf degree is a joke as it's entirely online. https://t.co/nU7oeVLcO7
@ElmwoodSave Campaigners told golf degree is online - stretches definition of presence. Details on how practical skills would be delivered, vital for golf industry, unclear - sruc reports these come via HNC apprenticeship but not how this would works within online degree. Misconceptions?
@Swim_England@guardian It's heartbreaking to hear about any pool closing. Though we're all competing for money now I hope that swimming as one of our nation's favourite activities will be supported. If we don't keep our leisure facilities open our health service - if not already - is truly doomed.
