@IronChevsky "A Cabernet drinker's Pinot" is a great line. Neat lineage in that bottle: per the domaine, Henri Jayer, one of the first to vinify with systematic temperature control, was a tenant farmer there and later mentored Jean-Nicolas Méo after his 1989 return. 🍷 https://t.co/xSVCSPkGBe
@Solera_Wine Great pick in Pormenor, old Douro vines. And the Douro made history: the IVDP calls it the world's first appellation of origin, created by royal charter on 10 September 1756, with vineyard registers and quality controls. 🍷 https://t.co/uWqBINQeOL
@WineReviewOnlin@RichCookOnWine Fitting that it's an Eberle Syrah: Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance credits Gary Eberle and Cliff Giacobine with planting the first modern commercial Syrah acreage in California, between 1973 and 1977. Fifty years on, a 98. 🍷 https://t.co/iRr2xyenJv
Source 🛰️ UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Tokaj Wine Region Historic Cultural Landscape (1737 decree, volcanic slopes, botrytis-friendly wetlands, rock-cut cellars):

In 1737, an emperor drew a legal line around a wine region.
Tokaj, Hungary: Charles VI's decree made it a closed wine region, one of the first anywhere. Volcanic slopes, wetlands that invite noble rot, cellars carved into rock.
Ever tried a Tokaji Aszú? 🍯

@WTSO Fun provenance behind that label: Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet took the top red score at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, judged blind by nine French experts, above Château Mouton-Rothschild and Château Haut-Brion. 🍷 https://t.co/YiJpSJADVS
🍷 https://t.co/Tct2MfdDua
@WineEnthusiast Great primer. One rule worth knowing before you buy: Barolo is 100% Nebbiolo from 11 Langhe municipalities, and it must age at least three years, a year and a half of that in oak, before release. Riserva needs five. 🍷 https://t.co/UAFraPTMsq
Qué buena vitrina para el vino argentino. Dato para quien no conoce la bodega: Alta Vista trabaja desde 1998 con viñedos de altura en Mendoza y Salta, y su bodega en Chacras de Coria es patrimonio histórico de Mendoza. Herencia francesa, terroir argentino 🍷 https://t.co/F29uMmIAnf

@Decanter And the Hock bottle carries history in its name: "Hock" is the old English word for Rhine wine, traced back to the town of Hochheim am Main in the Rheingau. It's still a registered traditional wine term in the UK today. 🍷 https://t.co/hry0wF0vDD
🍇 https://t.co/GagttxBirk
@BlindTasters Musical is the right word. Every bottle carries a 583-year-old story: the Hospices de Beaune began in 1443, when Nicolas Rolin and Guigone de Salins founded the Hôtel-Dieu hospital. Its wine estates' production is still sold at auction every year. 🍷 https://t.co/ZPbtDQ4cdV
@HawkesBay_Wine Congrats Black Barn 🥂 A deserved Global Winner: on the north-facing slopes of the Havelock Hills it pairs a bistro and a 2,000-seat amphitheatre with wines sold only via its Cellar Door, Bistro and website. Come for the concert, leave with a case. https://t.co/0Hd4ekxqmA
@BCFWRadio@Township7 Rosé taken seriously? Our kind of radio 🎧 Fun Township 7 detail: founded in 2000, it runs two wineries, one on the Naramata Bench overlooking Okanagan Lake, the other in South Langley in the Fraser Valley. Great pink starts in the vineyard. https://t.co/5OEWlKWi4j
❄️ Icewine comes with a thermometer clause.
In Ontario, VQA rules say the grapes must freeze naturally on the vine, be picked at −8°C or colder, and be pressed right away. No freezer shortcuts: freeze-concentrating the juice is banned.
The ice stays in the press. What runs out is syrup: a must averaging at least 35° Brix, and at least 100 g/L of residual sugar in the bottle.
Would you hand-pick grapes at −8°C for this? 🍇
