UGC ROLLBACK, RESERVATION REFORM & ABOLITION OF THE SC/ST ACT
General Janta Party (GJP)
To,
Shri J. P. Nadda Ji @JPNadda
New Delhi
Subject: Demand for UGC Rollback, Reservation Reform and Abolition of the SC/ST Act
Respected Nadda Ji,
On behalf of the General Janta Party (GJP), we respectfully place three major demands before you:
1. UGC Rollback
We demand the rollback of the UGC Promotion of Equity Regulations and seek a fair, transparent and caste-neutral framework that protects every student and teacher from discrimination while ensuring due process.
2. Reservation Reform
India needs comprehensive reservation reform. We request a national review covering economic disadvantage, creamy layer, reservation in promotions, education and periodic assessment of the existing system. Policies should support genuinely disadvantaged citizens while safeguarding equality of opportunity.
3. Abolition of the SC/ST Act
GJP demands Parliamentary consideration of the abolition of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and its replacement with a caste-neutral legal framework. Genuine caste-based atrocities must be punished strictly, while due process and safeguards against false or malicious complaints must also be ensured.
Our objective is to build a system based on equality, merit, natural justice and equal protection under law for every Indian citizen.
We request you and the Government to initiate serious discussion and appropriate legislative action on these issues.
Yours sincerely,
Umang Sharma
National Convener
