@maggiemellon@redpepper1011 On one hand you criticise children’s removal based on prediction of future harm but criticise this adoption because assessors did not predict future harm.
Not sure which ideal is supposed to hold here
@albieamankona John Davidson has a condition where he has NO CONTROL over the nature of his outbursts.
Kanye’s condition is not the same. He made some choices in a manner that Davidson cannot
Your batting for Davidson was an act of common sense not some great defence of his honour
@TheAfrocentricI Actually it does. The syndrome makes people blurt out things that are viewed as the most taboo.
The only way this doesn’t happen is if the sufferer doesn’t know the words exist. That such slurs exist for black people in a way they do not exist for white people is the issue.
@kayribeiro@jamescdyer@boydhilton I know you guys were lukewarm about The Waterfront
Stay at least to episode four. Enter a certain nerdy actor playing against type for the first time since Spiderman 3, though to much better effect.
Completely different series when he’s on
@AngusMacnamara@BarristerSecret Trying to justify her actions in terms of good and bad people is part of the problem.
If the wrong kind of person expressed her views or if her incitement was aimed at harming a group you were aligned with, your saying that has an impact on whether she was justified
@SkylarSkye14@ReadingFC Well done. Your worse take ever hooked me in to comment.
You either have no idea about Reading’s situation, cannot see beyond the needs of your so-called superclub, or have simply baited mugs like me with your deliberate trolling
@NevRhea @FantasticCle @Sargon_of_Akkad@RusGarbageHuman If you can count, then you must understand the concept of the multiplier and why this means many young people feel they will never access a mortgage…?
@mumtolily@90stomboy@MichaelGLFlood Why the quotation marks?
What methodology would you advise instead or are you just pissed the findings don’t play into your prejudices?
@AlstroemeriaSun@PippaCrerar The only war is the one Russia is raging on Ukraine.
Free speech does not allow you to incite riots, which is what UK critics are actually referring to. Pretty sure it’s Russia where you’re not allowed to criticise the regime
@carcassone81452@kelvmackenzie He’s not just giving information, he’s clearly being provocative. The post is obviously designed to trigger.
How else do you understand his reason for posting? (Consider Kelvin’s history over the last 5 decades)
@BarryESharp@Zero_4 That still doesn’t address my point that New Labour had little to do with socialism.
In recent years, I have struggled with the likelihood of effective democratic socialism anywhere, but it certainly has not happened here.
@BarryESharp@Zero_4 No. But that’s not my point. I’m taking issue with your description of Blairism as socialist.
Have you spoken to any trade unionists about Blair’s socialist credentials #clause4
@BarryESharp@Zero_4 You say this as if the Tories massively pushed back against such “socialism”
E.g. Middle East intervention was one of the worst errors but was only Lib Dem’s opposing action at the time in Iraq.
Most Blair policies were social democratic or watered down Thatcherism.
@AustinCroweLuv@DarrenJohnson66 When people talk about “identity politics” they don’t tend to refer to those who are insistent on flag-waving, espousing ‘traditional’ values even though that is just as much asserting an identity as anyone else.
@AustinCroweLuv@DarrenJohnson66 What is seen as identity politics now was a counterculture movement. The fact it’s seen as the default just means it’s a victim of its own success in progressing minority rights and recognition
@AustinCroweLuv@DarrenJohnson66 There is no sense of “everyone”. There was a past where they was a collective identity which oppressed those that did not fit it. That’s the reason for the left’s protests in the first place.
Now, we can easily live in our silos, for good and for ill
@AustinCroweLuv@DarrenJohnson66 Identify politics as it’s currently understood is simply a reaction to the engrained identity that exists, such as nationalism, heteronormative values, etc.
It has been on the right of the spectrum where identity has been key and used to exclude
@KonstantinKisin@DPJHodges Whatever. Bet you don’t doubt Boris Johnson’s Englishness even though he wasn’t UK born.
It’s obvious what this is about #dogwhistle
