With Feb. 14 marking the annual MMIWG march in Winnipeg, here's a reminder about the murdered Indigenous girl that was failed by Minister Nahanni Fontaine this time last year. 👇🏽

This Tuesday marked 1 year since Manitoba's worst homicide in recent history, where a mass murder in Carman took the lives of a teen in the CFS system and 4 others.

On February 11, 2024, police found the murdered bodies of 17-year-old First Nations teen Myah-Lee Gratton, her foster cousin (Amanda Clearwater), and Amanda's 3 little, precious children.

TWO MONTHS EARLIER, Myah-Lee begged Child & Family Services to get her out of the foster home that she was later murdered in, in addition to calls made to CFS months prior.

Why didn't CFS answer? We don't know because the minister responsible (Nahanni Fontaine) won't tell the public, including Myah-Lee's mother.

Nahanni said a report into Myah's calls would be published by end of April 2024. She later backtracked and said she won't make the report public—as if we don't deserve to know what went wrong.

Nahanni claims to have conducted a report and implemented its recommendations, but has kept it hidden from the public. We have no way to actually assess the actions she's supposedly taken. She also rejected calls to launch an inquiry.

The fact that Myah's calls to CFS were ignored is a non-partisan issue that @MBPCcaucus, @MBLiberalParty, and @AMCMBChiefs have all raised concerns about.

Myah-Lee's mom, Juliette Hastings, has since (as of October 2024) said that she's not been given any answers by officials. She's now suing CFS for their negligence.

Hastings said she was let down by Nahanni and the NDP government, stating, "She [Nahanni] is a mother to all these children that have fallen through the gaps."

Nahanni has essentially kept mum on Myah since. Ironic, as she's made a big stink in the past about how PCs never tweeted about some victims. Search "Myah Gratton" on Nahanni's socials now and tell me if you find anything.

She would be raising hell about this if the government wasn't her own. Because she's an activist–influencer, a performer.

And she can't take what she dishes out. She sends her followers to attack other MLAs and people, but keeps her own comment section on lock.

Her socials are full of baking cakes, #girlboss reels, and issues happening elsewhere in the world.

Nahanni pretends like she speaks truth to power. She's a government minister. She is literally the "power", and suddenly has nothing to say about an Indigenous girl who was murdered under her watch.

Myah-Lee is an MMIWG who holds no political expedience for Nahanni or Wab Kinew. It's so fucking gross.

The fact that no one knows who Myah-Lee Gratton is—that there's no public outcry, no rallies in her name—is a travesty.

Justice for Myah.

The pattern is obvious.

Scheer was supposedly too awkward. O’Toole was too inconsistent. Pierre is now too aggressive, too divisive, too nasty. Change the leader and the criticism changes with him. The objective stays the same: keep Conservatives apologizing, retreating and replacing leaders while the Liberals remain the default governing party.

The elite Red Tories never wanted Pierre Poilievre as leader because he threatens the arrangement they are comfortable with. They prefer a Conservative Party that manages Liberal policies a little more efficiently, attends the right receptions and never seriously challenges Ottawa’s permanent political class.

Put on the economics hat and the incentives become clear. The people closest to government often do very well under bigger government. Consultants get contracts. Lobbyists gain influence. Bureaucracies expand. Well-connected corporations receive subsidies and protection. Housing owners watch scarcity drive up their assets. Ordinary workers get higher taxes, weaker wages, expensive housing and declining public services.

Pierre’s real offence is that he speaks directly to the people paying the bill.

Canada has nearly every advantage a country could ask for: energy, minerals, farmland, fresh water, educated people, stable institutions and access to the largest market on Earth. We should be one of the wealthiest and strongest countries in the world. Instead, our political class keeps managing scarcity, blocking investment and teaching Canadians to expect less.

Conservatives should stop chasing approval from commentators and insiders who will never support them. Back Pierre. Defend the principles. Make the economic case clearly.

Prosperity should not be reserved for the people who already know how to work the system.

For more than a decade, the Liberals have tried to rewrite our history, apologizing for Canada more often than they’ve championed it. And now this guy wants to lecture us on national pride?

You don’t get to burn the flag and then complain someone else isn’t waving it hard enough.

The Globe columnist wants a patriotism test where Conservatives get interrogated for what strangers say, while Liberals get a pass for what their own government does.

Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not Canadian enough for their version of Canada. Strong democracies need a strong opposition, don’t let them convince you otherwise no matter how big the subsidies are. 🇨🇦

Mark Carney is Trudeauism in a better suit.

Elite travel. Corporate subsidies. Bonuses after failure. Endless lectures about responsibility from people who never seem to face any consequences themselves.

The language has changed. The packaging is slicker. The same insiders still get protected, the same taxpayers still get stuck with the bill, and ordinary Canadians are still told to sacrifice more.

Different vocabulary. Same government culture.

You've likely seen the headlines from bills C-34, C-36, and C-22 in the media.

Each may sound reasonable on their own: protect kids online, modernize privacy, help police catch criminals.

But buried within is an emerging Digital Regulatory Superpower unlike anything Canadians have ever seen.

These bills hand one unelected commission power over what Canadians can say, what stays private, and who the state can watch.

As of today, the Federal Government is rushing to enact massive Internet Surveillance Reform into law without proper debate.

So let me get this straight...

Canada is in a recession—the only G7 country currently in one. Unemployment is up. Inflation is rising. Food insecurity is at a record high.

Yet the highest proportion of Canadians since 2017 now say the country is on the right track.

That's either a remarkable display of optimism—or a sign that many Canadians aren't getting the full economic story from the news they consume.

Today, Wab Kinew's entire focus in question period was on Obby Khan's supposed comments about Uzoma Asagwara.

Wab continuously called Obby a liar and said he lacks the integrity to be a leader or MLA.

Reminder: Wab lied about his domestic assault charges when he was running for NDP leader in 2017 until info was leaked to the media.

Absolutely no leg to stand on @WabKinew.

Even acknowledging this issue becomes a basis for political attacks against Canadian conservatives.

Last year, a Manitoba PC MLA cited a poll that says almost half of Canadians his age (Millennials) are inclined to become Americans.

The Kinew NDP absolutely railed on him for even suggesting such a thing.

You can hear them start losing their minds as soon as he says it.

He was citing **external data** for the sole purpose of making the argument that we have to STOP Manitoba from losing talent.

Literally the next sentence out of his mouth was "I love Canada."

That didn't stop them from posting that 10-second clip on their socials without context and sending their followers to go harass the MLA.

To this day Team Wab Kinew accuses Guenter of being a 51st-stater due to this one line.

These people are content with Canada's brain drain because the alternative would mean having to face the facts.
