FIXING THE ROADS: WisDOT leadership helped @GovEvers wrap up his annual “Pothole Patrol” tour over the last week with stops in Altoona, Wisconsin Rapids, South Milwaukee, Siren, and Superior.

In the three years before the project, there were 31 total crashes along the highway. In the three years after the improvements were made, there were 18 total crashes, a 42% reduction.
This is another example of safety improvement through engineering.

SAFETY SUCCESS: A highway in Walworth County saw a reduction in crashes after a project was completed in 2020.
Crews widened the shoulders along a portion of WIS 11 near Delavan, closed the Pinks Lane intersection, and added rumble strips and turning lanes.

Starting today, the personalized license plate fee for Gold Star specialty plates is now waived for Gold Star family members. A "Gold Star Family" is an immediate family member of a U.S. military service member who died in the line of duty.
