ANOTHER swarm of bees has settled 30 metres from the recent large swarm still in the trees. Another is 20 metres from this in an opposite shed. I’ve got a hive close to all three so 🤞what a year for bees. I suppose I am the chosen one, king of the bees 😆😍🐝🐝🐝
Look what’s been built in Cardiff for swifts. My niece sent me these photos and said the structure was alive with birds. Heartening to see. It’s shaped like a swift in flight I think. Other towns have created similar swift nest sites including Exeter. Thank you for caring.
Cockrow Bridge, spanning the A3 in near Cobham, opened in May. It has reconnected to rare heathland areas that were separated for 50 years.
The sand lizard has become increasingly scarce as the sandy heaths and dunes it depends on have been destroyed.
In a field near Wicken, Cambridgeshire larkspur is grown for London florists along with cornflowers & Nigella. It’s quite a sight just now-some floral dopamine for you 🌿:
@zarahussain999 It was a woman taking the footage. I'm not sure how she could have intervened other than gather evidence. I would have run a mile from the situation - after first alerting all the relevant authorities.
This spiral bridge on England's Macclesfield Canal is an impressive example of 19th-century engineering. Known as the "Snake Bridge" or "Roving Bridge," it was created to let horses towing canal boats switch sides of the canal without needing to be unhitched from the towline.
Tumbleweeds start out as tiny seedlings; by summer the plant has a round shape. They grow flowers and fruits. By fall they dry and detach from their roots, so they spread their seeds.
