@NormanBrennan@RoryStewartUK What, just like he has done for the past 4 years? The epitome of grace? We need to keep reminding the world and the American people what a loathsome despot he is.
@piratejw @TiggyWalker @lizziebarn@Dr_Paul_Thomas@BBCRadio2 Just listened to the last ever SOT 70s. Sunday afternoons won’t be the same again and what a beautiful song to finish with. Totally sums Johnnie up. As happy playing Judy Collins as he is Phil Collins. No pretensions. Just love of the music. Whoever made it. Happy retirement
@Andybrawn6 Absolute rubbish. What about the Celtic and Rangers fans who stood on the kop, the people over from Ireland? Were they not “day trippers”? What about the collections for the miners? Not political? We moaned about the atmosphere back then too.
@henrywinter There have been some great teams since but none captured my heart (Liverpool apart!) like they did and Neeskens was the lead violinist in Cruyff’s orchestra. So sad.
@henrywinter Growing up in Liverpool, I was lucky that my first game at Anfield was Kevin Keegan’s debut. However, it was the Ajax team of 71-73 and the Netherlands in 1974 that showed me that football truly was the beautiful game.
@TiggyWalker @piratejw @WhisperingBob@BBCRadio2 Well that’s a sad day. Apart from the music itself, what I love most about SOTS is how Johnnie’s sheer love of music shines through and when he has guests on, he’s humble enough to make sure they are the main attraction, not himself. A few others could learn that from that.
@tracey_thorn Such a beautiful, intimate album would benefit from a few appropriately intimate gig venues to celebrate it, methinks. Just a thought. No pressure.
@tracey_thorn Oh wow. That’s fabulous news. Can’t wait. I will just need a freezing cold, damp bedroom to listen to it in and it will be like being a student all over again.
