@Cox_A_R I am unable to understand why midwifery as an institution remains unwilling to practise evidence-based medicine, and why other professionals (obstetricians, anaesthetists, fetal medicine specialists, neonatologists) seem happy to indulge them.
Normal birth ideology had fans among investigators in the Amos review, apparently.
“He told the BBC that "a significant number of people" had signed off a version of the report that included criticism of normal birth but that eight days before its publication, "it disappeared."”
“I don't think it's right that we should push this under the covers….This is a patient safety danger and I think it should be called out as such."
Deeply concerning revelations from @BBCMBuchanan here:-

Germany’s ambassador to Israel is moving on, and sharing (in adorably accented Hebrew) his 25 favorite things about the country. Not only is this sweet, it makes you think - if 80 years later we can have such a great relationship with Germany, what else is possible in our future?
@SAshworthHayes@LaveenLadharam A large part of the British working-class costs the state more than they pay in taxes. Each minimum wage worker -British or foreign- costs £500,000 from age 25 to 85. Whether adding smaller fiscal drains to an existing pool of larger fiscal drains is a good idea is the question.
Is The Lancet antisemitic?
I’ve published in the journal for 25 years and have known and liked its editor since the 1990s. After Oct 7, I wanted to understand the controversies over its Middle East coverage — so I counted the output, coded the editorials against a fixed rubric, and traced where the claims travelled once they left the page.
My answer is no — it clears the IHRA definition. But it publishes five times as much on the Middle East as on Sudan — four in five items letters, not research. A non-peer-reviewed estimate of “up to 186,000” deaths left its pages and was cited as fact by parliamentarians. Its editorial voice has grown increasingly one-sided.
By lending the imprimatur of science to claims it never subjected to the rigour of science, the journal contributes to a climate of hostility toward Jews.

One incredible fact Shaun reveals is over 30 NHS managers refused to co-operate with the Ockenden review but presumably faced no sanction as, unlike doctors & nurses, they are completely unregulated. This is an absolutely crazy operational risk! It actively encourages cover ups.
We don't need to imagine, Diane.
UK Jews funded the kindertransport & were tasked with finding homes for all children, so as not to be 'a burden on the public'. Each needed £50 (£4200 in 2026 money) put up to fund what was expected to be post-war re-migration to home countries.
It’s always fascinating to hear two privately educated chaps ruminate on their schooldays - but whatever they were taught at Ampleforth and Stockport Grammar, the history national curriculum in our state schools now deals extensively with the British Empire and indeed others…
@omarali50 He has no filter so this is probably true. “For voter turnout” could mean “maximising turnout, regardless of party preference”. But turnout in India has been consistently higher than in the US, particularly among the lower income demographic.
@sowathreya@omarali50 My parents’ generation of arranged marrieds went to the cinema and restaurants during the courtship phase before agreeing to a match.
@v_j_freeman Would be a shame if this absolute horror became entrenched in power. There is already another entrenched horror in neighbouring Tower Hamlets
Green Party Mayor of Hackney Zoe Garbett says the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of woman “doesn’t keep women safe”.
“Trans women are women, and they face higher risk of sexual violence than most.”
Seems barely noticed by UK Press that CKH has divested its 49% stake in VodafoneThree, and 100% in UKPN.
Two massive Chinese critical national infrastructure holdings for roughly £14 billion between them...
@JaneSymons1@GussieGrips@TerfyMcTerfy@Hilary_Cass No, because certain lobby groups have made gender ideology accepted within social care, police, health and schools. When training multiagency frontline staff in child protection and safeguarding, ‘parent encouraging child to try to change sex’ never comes up as a reason to act.
@ChandhokHursh That tracks. And certain fundamentalist American Christian groups* view yoga as the devil’s work, similar to Indian leftists except replace ‘devil’ with Modi. The two theorists should meet each other.
