A lot of people cope with being shamed by adopting the logic of the person who shamed them. Then that person ends up enforcing that same logic on others because it makes their own past feel more intelligible. So like lol yeah girl sure go on and be a shitty person 🤷🏻♀️
There is a cultural model of sexual assault that is so dependent on violence that ppl become incapable of recognizing sexual violations that don’t fit that model & often times women themselves internalize that model. It’s why there’s so many dumb ass takes coming from girls too.
Like I’m trying to be cute, have a drink, read and relax while visiting my bf at his job and here I am fucking crying bc of this book like oh okay don’t mind me lmao
Who cares about any this shit today because I’m just really so happy so thankful so blessed that my Tata’s colonoscopy came back clear after having him experience some health issues. Genuinely tears of joy and gratitude. That man means the world to me.
Cornell has been caught in a lie this morning. After previously asserting that they turned over all investigatory documents to the DA, NYT reporting reveals that they withheld the transcript of Jane Doe’s testimony and sent only the summary they produced, omitting key details and assertions. While Jane Doe did sign the statement, she is NOT an attorney and was not at all qualified to determine which legally relevant details to include or omit. That is the job of a system that failed her at every turn. And to be clear, this does not absolve the DA. If he truly believed he received a police report about a totally consensual evening (which that six page summary was not) it was his job to investigate why this young woman made a police report in the first place. Instead, he went on cable news to malign her character and weaken her credibility. Disgusting on every front. https://t.co/wzQoH33A34
Chow Chows deserve all the smoke that pitbulls get. Like I don’t care. Those dogs are so mean so scary and I have NEVERRRRRRR met one that hasn’t attacked at least one person.
@Iris3Vi@buttonslives@grlfrmboston@michaeljknowles I often find that women who push this narrative often times were bullied & shamed by their community or people close to them about their drinking/sexuality enough that they adopted the mindset of “I put myself in that situation so I have no one to blame but me” type of thing.
Like I really do try to respect all forms of life but what is the reason for mosquitoes and cockroaches. Idk idc I still think they are straight from hell and need to go back there.
The rain has brought the most annoying large invasive mosquitoes to the city and I swear I find a new one IN my house every day and it drives me insane bc I’m so scared of it laying eggs in my plants and floral arrangements
@celestialxsigh I’m pretty sure the music video you’re thinking about was “Obsessed” though and it was not flirty or flattery. He straight up said they dated and she said uh wait no we never did. Lol
@blackocean_000@kloudiiee I also think part of the disconnect is that society is largely taught to understand sexual assault through the most violent examples, so it can be uncomfortable to recognize that some experiences were still violating without it looking like that.
@blackocean_000@kloudiiee Your choice not to call your experience rape doesn’t mean the same conduct can’t constitute rape in another situation. If you were taken advantage of, the question is whether there was meaningful consent, not how much bad behavior men should tolerate from women.
And the irony is men spend all day insisting men are the stronger, more powerful sex, then suddenly argue women have to manage their behavior bc men apparently can’t control themselves.
The funniest part of “women need to stop putting themselves in situations where this could happen” is that it requires society to assume men are incapable of controlling themselves to begin with.
The “no respectable woman gets drunk at a frat,” “not all men,” “are you sure she didn’t just regret it” argument is TIRED. It all does the same thing: shifts scrutiny from what the man did onto whether the woman made sufficient choices.
