@RJSNY34@soulfulsloth@eddardkrak Wasn't talking trash to you but that other dude who seems to think its easy for 200k. Gotta consider what the life is like too before counting that money.
I've talked to your guys while riding metro north and its amazing how different stuff is. 2 seperate entities.
@RickJam11636370@eddardkrak I think paper copies are done because they'd be inaccessible in case of a major event. Like how phones went down during 911. Some of those printed copy requirements are attempting to be changed as far as I know.
@Captain_Gallo@aarmlovi So are you saying they should not get a cost of living raise every year? They haven't had a raise in 3 years and this contract covers those 3 years which is very different from framing it as a 10% increase for a single year which isn't stated but appears to be implied.
@ImNotOwned There are very different requirements for different agencies. LIRR has much more difficult testing to get in. Its not a straight 1-1. Like LIRR has to know all 11 branches and the rules and reqs of them. Some railroads only require training on a single branch.
@acpandy@ljcaron7272@NYCMayor You have no idea what kind of internal training and testing is required to be a full conductor nor their actual duties. They lose a ton of people throughout the training process from them failing different qualifications tests. Takes multiple years to be a qualified conductor.
@lawnguyland31@BaldwinTheEag Its not accurate. The unions want 5% this. Its a multi year contract. Something like 3.5 for 3 years and this year at 5. They've been without a contract or raises for 3 years.
@kallaeum@keithdorejel I can't speak for most of those unions. Especially considering how many different jobs those unions cover. But a cost of living raise seems reasonable especially considering all the insane inflation of recent years. Your complaints should be against overtime not hourly rate.
@kallaeum@keithdorejel Can't speak for all of them but the dudes I know literally live on the job to clear that much. 7 days a week plus 1-2 days a week doing 2 shifts. I can't even pretend its worth it. Literally flipping their sleep schedule multiple times a week. Nightmarish and rare.
@kallaeum@keithdorejel Some do. Some don't. Those unions represent a ton of different jobs.
Doesn't distract from you being misinformed which is something you seem keen on continuing.
@kallaeum@keithdorejel Conductors aren't striking. They agreed to a contract already. 5 other unions are striking.
Try being vaguely informed about whats actually happening next time.
@Lib_Development The conductors are not striking they agreed to a new contract already. Its the engineers and 4 other unions that are striking.
Try having a basic understanding of whats happening next time.
Literally not anyone involved in checking tickets is striking.
@NYCBikeLanes The conductors are not striking they agreed to a new contract already. Its the engineers and 4 other unions that are striking.
Try having a basic understanding of whats happening next time.
@dead_baseball I like watching movies using my VR headset because its a lot harder to fuck off with that thing on. Gives me the theater experience at home.
@atlanticesque I'm from upstate NY. The joke was the only people that stayed in our hometown inherited something there or were destined to die from a drug overdose. Pretty accurate so far.
