I just stepped off a plane. A young girl in front of me was accompanied by her mom. Before I could leave the aisle and turn to exit the plane and enter the jetway, we were momentarily paused. The pilot asked the mom if her daughter wanted to see the cockpit.
I heard the girl say, “Yes, please! Can we?”
Mom nodded and they stepped forward. Before I turned to exit I saw the little girl, turned to the side, glowing—because the pilot was a girl, too.
And all I could think was, hell yes, sister. You did it. And you’re keeping that door open for others. I have no idea who the pilot is—but I’m so damn proud of her.
And ya know, that feeling when you see your sisters doing amazing stuff? Just shattering those ceilings wherever they are. Showing up. Doing the hard things. Creating a clearing so one day there’s a solid path and later a paved road for all our future sisters to safely travel down.
There’s a reason there is dramatic uptick of celebrating womanhood and female joy. There’s the friendship bracelets. There’s the Barbies. There’s the answers to the “What am I made for?’s.” There’s the Mean Girls and the Pink Pony Girls. And the short and sweet and sour of it all. And the kicking ass at the Olympics and taking care of business at home. The boss babes and the cat ladies and chicks with the fit. And there’s the dudes who join us + support us + cheer us on.
There is a reason we’ve arrived at this moment—the sisterhood is rising. We are thriving. And we are paving the way forward, because we are never going back.
And on November 5th we’re going to vote for each other.
Are you ready for it?

Cancer touches every community across Wisconsin & we must do everything we can to prevent its devastating impacts. It was great to meet with @ACSCAN today to discuss the need to increase cancer research & early prevention programs so that we can save lives.
So thankful to the House Energy and Commerce Commitee for including HR 2407 in today’s hearing. ACS CAN advocates are thrilled to be there in person to offer our support. #CancerLobbyDay
.@AmericanCancer Board Chair @bmar3514 addresses ACS CAN volunteers: We stand in awe of your ability to engage in policy at all levels and fight through to the end. It’s because of the things you are doing here today. The world needs more leaders like you. #CancerLobbyDay
700+ @ACSCAN advocates are in Washington, DC this week for #CancerLobbbyDay to amplify this message and ask their lawmakers to prioritize ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.
“We cannot and we will not negotiate with cancer. We’re proud that our cancer lens creates an opportunity for lawmakers to reach across the aisle and advance key legislative priorities nationwide.” -ACS CAN President @LLacasseACSCAN#CancerLobbyDay
Far too many hardworking Wisconsinites are forced to go without insurance because our state hasn’t expanded Medicaid, and their employer doesn’t offer insurance. How has living without insurance impacted you? Share your story: https://t.co/yefh8LyMh4
Krin receives copay assistance to help with the cost of her cancer medication, but her insurance company doesn’t count this towards her deductible. This is a problem many patients face, and WI lawmakers must pass #AllCopaysCount to help patients like Krin.
"Expanding BadgerCare would allow 91,000 WI residents to gain access to affordable health care coverage. That’s more Wisconsinites than you can pack into Lambeau Field." @Tony4WI@michelsforgov will you take action & expand BadgerCare in 2023? #CancerVotes https://t.co/61NqlS9PsD
Did you know 7 in 10 WI voters want to see BadgerCare fully expanded? @tony4wi@michelsforgov, will you commit to joining this overwhelming majority in support of BadgerCare expansion in 2023? https://t.co/3LjBRiFnW3 #CancerVotes
Sen. Warnock just said he's pushing for the Inflation Reduction Act to close Medicaid gap. Will introduce an amendment on the floor if leadership doesn't add in beforehand.
Would force entire dem caucus to vote on record on this.
Amendment C would permanently change our constitution to end majority rule for ballot measures, allowing 41% of voters to block decisions that most voters want. This undermines the will of the people and puts the minority in charge. Pledge to vote NO on C: https://t.co/sIYb1KZ4Ov
