@k_sonin Elections can be stolen ex post (by messing with vote totals) or ex ante (by denying people the ability to vote). That second avenue has been the source of a lot of attention in recent election cycles.
@k_sonin How do we know that the Electoral System worked in past elections? Do we know that Florida wasn't stolen in 1876, Illinois/Texas in 1960, or Florida in 2000?
@benconomics If we're going to go for increased tax revenue, that will come with costs. I'm guessing the DWL from these revenues is less than from increasing tax rates.
@Timodc That many motorcycle police does seem excessive. I'm sure with just three or four officers they could have prevented The suspect from initiating any further crimes.
@JamesSurowiecki There is an element of chance to the membership of the Supreme Court, but the bigger problem is that the current system effectively grants ownership of a seat to its current member, who can choose to step down once an acceptable replacement is picked, as with Kennedy to Kavanaugh
