We have today received a Response from the litigation department of the HO regarding our intention to challenge the restriction of Dependant Rules especially for those with minor children born in the UK or currently in school in the United Kingdom.

HO’s lawyer has just requested details of those affected and whilst we have almost 30 persons affected, we understand that there are many people out there who were also affected as well.

You mentioned that you have reduced your sins, you are seeking forgiveness, and you have even memorized parts of the Quran. Subhanallah. Do not ever think your efforts are in vain. You are doing beautiful things.

There is a specific prayer the Prophet gave to a companion who was sitting in the mosque feeling completely overwhelmed by debt and anxiety. This is what you should recite every morning and evening:

"Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhul, wa ghalabatid-dayn, wa qahrir-rijal."

(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.)

Keep holding onto your Istighfar. Do not stop. Sometimes the breakthrough takes a little longer because Allah is building something lasting for you. The debts will be paid, and the sadness will lift.

Keep repeating that dua, and try to wake up in the last third of the night, even if it is just to cry to Him. He listens. May Allah open doors of provision for you from places you never expected.

Back in 2017, I had a serious football injury that kept me out of school for two months. My aunt took me to a government hospital in Ilorin because the treatment was free and accessible.

The first day I went, I met only one nurse and one doctor on duty. The nurse gave me a tetanus injection, and the doctor dressed the wound.

For the next two months, I went back every two days for dressing. Every single time, I only saw that same doctor. The hospital looked like a graveyard. There were no in-patients at all. Who would even take care of them?

This doctor, a very kind Hausa man, kept treating me with so much dedication. As we got used to each other, I asked him why the hospital had no nurses and why he was always alone.

What he told me was shocking. He said there were more than 15 staff members posted there, but they hardly came to work.

Some would show up once a month, or only when they had intel that a senior officer was coming for inspection. He said many of them had other private businesses they focused on in town. Yet, they received a monthly salary from the government.

I asked him why he doesn't just stay back too since nobody is holding anyone accountable. He looked at me and asked, "If I do like them, who will remain to take care of the people?"

That was the day my disgust for ghost workers and civil service absenteeism peaked. I knew right there that it will be very hard for this country to work when the system allows this kind of rot 💔
