Many don’t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps weren’t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents. So, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them “very long sentences,” I can’t help but take him seriously… because history teaches us that is what fascist dictators do during their “Day One” period to consolidate their power. (After all, if you’re hellbent on staying in power but aren’t likely to win the next election, you can’t have your political opponents running around free.)

I get that we are but imperfect beings on this Earth, especially those of us in “leadership,” but DAMN, can we not just agree on basic shit like if you didn’t grow up needing active shooter drills, then children today or even tomorrow shouldn’t need them too?! Can we just say kids deserve better? We have wasted millions attacking books… we’ve wasted millions attacking history… we’ve wasted millions worried about who plays what sports in school & the last time I checked the number 1 cause of death for children is gun violence and yet NO solutions on that from my “esteemed” colleagues.

Whew chile! Guilty on all counts in a state case! No matter what happens in November, he cannot “undo” this verdict. I know many are celebrating & I get it, but my heart fucking breaks for our country! How did we get here?! When did we stop requiring some darned decency of the most powerful person on Earth?!

The grand jurors, the prosecutors, the judge, the witnesses & this jury deserve so much more than they will receive. This was a brave undertaking in an unnecessarily violent & politically charged America.

FYI, today was a win for the rule of law!
