The hardest thing that ever was done,
The greatest pain that ever was known,
The biggest battle that ever was won—
This was done by Jesus!
The fight was won by Jesus!
One thing the Book of Mormon shows us plainly is that Satan wants us divided.
To separate us from each other, however he can—whether by age group, politics, religion, race, socioeconomic status, or whatever else.
Don't give in to tribalism.
We are all Children of God.
This illustrates a fundamental difference that we don’t always understand about how we define terms.
To a Latter-day Saint, being a Christian means being a follower/disciple of Jesus Christ. We don’t need the approval of another group, but we do want it clearly understood that everything we believe points to Christ - and Christ is the center of our worship and the center of the lifestyle we strive to live. When someone tells a Latter-day Saint they’re not a Christian - a Latter-day Saint hears that person denying the most central belief they hold.
On the other hand, when some Christians define Christianity it isn’t centered on Christ - it’s centered on a creedal definition of Christianity and a trinitarian understanding of who God is - and those people are right - we don’t meet that definition and don’t claim to.
Most of the confusion by Christians and Latter-day Saints around this is a difference in how they think the term should be used. We’re not trying to be in some club - we do emphatically want it understood that Christ is the center of our lives.
@cragun47 Talents or gifts of the spirit are given to us to develop, not for our own grandisement, for the blessing of others. The more we develop our talents, the more we can serve others, and the more the Lord will bless us.
@cragun47 One post by @actsofapostles_ that caught my attention was about Brigham Young when he had a thought critical of Joseph Smith's handling finances and the spirit told him to repent because fault finding would lead him to apostasy as it had to many others.
@Ch_JesusChrist The best way to strengthen your faith is to read the Book of Mormon and apply it to yourself. I served my mission in that area back in the early 70s and know it can be hard. Pray and stay close to the Savior. You are a daughter of God, and He loves you.
@PTSPentax As a student, not the teacher, we do not have the time to cover just the scriptures assigned for that week without adding the in-between weeks. I, therefore, try to study all the CFM lessons as a home centered learning.
