I love this book.
I am astounded at the number of people online that are scared to read it themselves.
It truly testifies of Christ. I invite anyone to read it for themselves. This book, as a companion to the bible, can change your life.
@MissRed_Roses@ThrillaRilla369 What are the children and teens that are home all summer doing while parents are working? Who are they chatting with, what are they viewing, rabbit holes, AI etc. Hours a day in the summer is a lot of time to be bored with internet access. (WiFi, TV, anything)
@JordanBraginton@VVenerabilis Yes! No reason not to (with the exception of a handful of hymns that have verses for sacrament versus baptisms). There are 2 line songs with 6 verses we sing 4 verses of. Not singing verses just because they don't fit in the stanza is a stupid tradition.
@WLLemmon I had a neat miraculous moment and made it there and just made it through. Came home and was pretty sick again, but only for a few hours!! Blessed today. π
My nephew is getting baptized in 40 minutes. I am the pianist.
I have a migraine that is becoming incredibly severe.
Not a huge deal, but could use prayers for a miraculous recovery if you can spare them.
I've been meaning to share this story.
About 4 weeks ago my family went to Utah for a Spring break trip. On the Friday before GC we visited with family, went to @BYU for a tour, and then headed to the Lindon temple open house.
We had limited time to due to another family commitment in the evening. For some reason, the open house did not provide reservations ahead of time.
By the time we got there, ushers estimated a 2-2.5 hour wait to get inside. Considering our family commitment, and that standing for that long would be painful for my daughters, my wife and I quickly decided we would just walk the grounds for awhile and take some pictures. We proceeded to do just that. It is a beautiful temple.
After about 10 minutes 1 of the parking attendants came over and offered to take a couple of pictures for us. He was very kind and we started chatting. Turns out he had served a mission in our city of Torrance >40 years previously. He then asked and we told him our situation. He immediately offered to usher us to the front of the line. I was reluctant at first, knowing that there was probably a couple thousand people in line waiting. He insisted and we were very grateful we could go in.
Inside, every member of my family had a very unique, powerful, spiritual experience, each in a different place of the temple. It was something we will always remember.
Afterwards I hunted down the attendant and thanked him profusely. I am grateful that he was a worthy man who must have heard the Holy Ghost tell him, "THIS family needs to get inside today."
And he didn't hesitate.
I am so grateful for temples, for tender mercies, and for those members who act as angels and quickly act on promptings they receive.
Moroni to Joseph "your name should be both good and evil spoken of among all people." Amazingly fulfilled still today.
Joseph to Brigham "your name shall also be had for good and for evil." Also fulfilled daily, hundreds of years later.
The Prophet Brigham Young, "My name is had for good and evil upon the whole earth, as promised to me.
Thirty years ago Brother Joseph, in a lecture to the Twelve, said to me, "Your name shall be known for good and evil throughout the world;" and it is so.
The good love me, weak and humble as I am, and the wicked hate me; but there is no individual on the earth but what I would lead to salvation, if he would let me;
I would take him by the hand, like a child, and lead him like a father in the way that would bring him to salvation." JD 11 lecture 17
@GuyInco15542744@VVenerabilis If you go on the portal, you can apply for financial assistance right on there and upload paperwork. It's worth a shot, and they defer payments requested until after it is finished being reviewed. (Perhaps you already have, but just in case.)
@realUncleWoWo@justinjcrowder@conservmillen The "we keep the law of Moses" part of his comment you are quoting is a verse of scripture that he quoted. He is quoting one of the people in The Book of Mormon before the time of Christ. It's like you quoting an old testament prophet.
@realUncleWoWo@justinjcrowder@conservmillen The above verse was written before the time of Christ, when they were practicing the law of Moses. We don't practice the law of Moses. Yes, Jesus fulfilled the law.
Last night, my 17 year old daughter looked at me and said, βI wish they taught us more about motherhood in Young Women. Isnβt that the most important thing weβll ever do?β
I canβt even express how much I love her. She is wise beyond her years and understands what many take a long time to learn.
