@europeanhodler Don’t get him to understand what you know. Listen to him, summarize the essence of what he’s said. If he’s nearing retirement he’s likely got a ton of worries about his life and his family. Get that right and he’ll know he can trust you. Then you can help him build a plan.
Bitcoin consumes so much energy because it uses a fully mechanical & digital process to ascertain truth. It doesn't rely on the authority of anyone.
