EVERY museum staffer should have to work a front of house job. Not just for a shift. Not just as a training exercise. It’s exhausting. If you don’t think people working with our visitors every single day are the most important staff at any museum, I don’t want to know you.
Skills for Museum Jobs: We need to support those leaving the sector but we also need to support those still there, with skills workshops, advice and discussions.
We want to know how we can be most helpful to our community in these tricky times for the sector. What should be our area of focus???
Twitter polls have 25 characters per option, so see below for more context!
Returning to the sector: We’re hearing that lots of people who are leaving right now want to come back at a later date, when the time’s right. We can put together guidance on what fields and skills will most help someone do this.
We are dedicated to ensuring all children, young people and families are included at museums and we aim to represent young people’s views at the heart of our organisation.
We are now recruiting for two new #YoungTrustees to support and shape our work 👉 https://t.co/4fmn0HoAjQ
It is never easy to be making these decisions. It is never easy to have these conversations. It is always hard. And it should be because we are dealing with peoples’ lives. It doesn’t mean we don’t do it but we need to think about how we can minimise the trauma. #Museums

This is incredibly sad news. With 9 sites under its wing, Birmingham Museums Trust provides many jobs for EMPs and beyond in the Midlands. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all those affected.
We are here to provide whatever support we can in these difficult times.
Unfortunately we were unsuccessful in our application to the Arts Council England Emergency Response Fund. This is a very challenging time for Birmingham Museums Trust. We will continue to work with stakeholders on securing our future. Read more here https://t.co/itD98GQew2
Anyone else worried about applying for jobs in the future? What will happen when/if redundancies start? Will we get a job market that is heavily oversubscribed? Who's to say there will be that many jobs coming up at all? #MACoronavirusConversations
As a manager one of your responibilities is to ensure your teams who aren't furloughed are mindful of the challenges, emotional & psychological, of those that have been. When we get back together #Museums we need to teamwork with understanding & respect.
