Short version of why WNC Heat Fairy. I started cutting burn barrels for emergency heating and cooking after our rain situation in WNC last fall. Delivered the first few late at night to the volunteers camp at Generation Church, went back the next evening, everyone had gathered around my barrel for the evening debriefing. I let them know I had left the barrels there and that I wanted to do more if they could help with distributing them to people who needed them. Made a silly name, delivered heat in the night, similar to the Tooth Fairy, but heat and warmth, so Heat Fairy. Easy to remember. Big effort, I did 122 total, should be about 100 around Swannanoa, some went other places. Stopped because back injury. Planning to do more barrels. Started cutting the ❤️ shape for the holes because ❤️ is faster and easier to cut and is a ❤️. If you see any of my barrels around let me know. Thanks!

This inexpensive gravity powered water filter setup works great and removes all the bad stuff. The fancy stainless steel housing units are nice but lots more expensive. This is a replacement filter element for a stainless setup mounted in the bottom of a gallon plastic pitcher from the grocery store dripping into a gallon glass jar. Various manufacturers sell the filter elements, this is an Alexapure from the Infowars store. Was using it for well water in Fairview before Helene, filtered all of the water I collected from various sources during the 10ish days without electricity before the well worked again, and still using it now to filter Asheville city water. You only need the filter element and two containers, plastic top is fine, glass below is best. Works great, same as the high dollar style but more affordable.

The Trump administration approved three new “forever chemical”-based pesticides last week for use on food crops, including corn and soybeans — the most widely grown crops in the country — as well as wheat, kiwi, oats, peas, broccoli and coffee.

These new chemicals — diflufenican, epyrifenacil, trifludimoxazin — have all been quietly approved without a standard press release.

Trump approved other PFAS-based pesticides cyclobutrifluram and isocycloseram earlier this year, and the first food use of chlormequat — which is already found in 90% of Americans’ blood.

An EPA scientist wrote in the approval documents that at least one of these new PFAS-based pesticides is “suggestive evidence of carcinogenic potential.”

These approvals come just days after the Supreme Court sided with chemical maker Bayer and the Trump administration in limiting Americans’ ability to sue pesticide companies for harms linked to pesticides.

Now, Americans will have a harder time holding companies accountable for the cancer-causing effects of their pesticides.
