Envisioning equal and justice society where men and women, girls and boys have right to access, utilize and enjoy all opportunities available according to law.
There are credible reports that bodies from the Tanzania massacre are being incinerated and crushed in cement factories to conceal evidence of the killings.
Any Attack to Lawyers within the Court Premise is a direct attack to Justice.
I have witnessed with deep concern and sadness the acts of brutality perpetrated by members of the Police Force against citizens and Advocate Mahinyila within the precincts of the High Court of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam Registry.
Such criminal conduct is indefensible and cannot be justified under any circumstance.
I have directed our designated officer to immediately follow up and obtain a detailed account of the incident.
Upon receipt of this report, the Governing Council of the Tanganyika Law Society will convene urgently to deliberate on the matter and provide a clear direction.
Justice, accountability, and the protection of lawyers and citizens are non-negotiable principles for which TLS stands firm.

FYI: Diaspora, many believed the 2011 court ruling allowed you to inherit land from your parents. However, on Friday, August 22, 2025, the Court of Appeal ruled otherwise: non-citizens cannot inherit land from their parents. Upon their passing, the land must be sold.
In short, non-citizen land inheritance in Tanzania is no longer in doubt — it’s generally prohibited, except through the investment route.

Ugandan🇺🇬 national, @AAgather tells @AFP that she was stripped naked, beaten until she could no longer walk, sexually assaulted and her body smeared in excrement by #Tanzanian🇹🇿 authorities.
“What happened in Tanzania stays in Tanzania,” she says she was told. “We have videos of you.”
One of the Tanzanian officers then hit the soles of her feet “with all his might”, while another inserted an object into her anus, she says.
“I had never known pain like that existed,” she recounts.
“I don’t remember which pain was worse,” she adds. “After that beating, I scream, I scream.”
Police told her: “Whites are sending you to destabilise our country”.
The whole scene was filmed — “to humiliate, instil fear but also silence me”, she says.
Atuhaire was abandoned early Friday by Tanzanian agents near the Ugandan border after a brutal ordeal.
Warning: Contains details of sexual assault. Agather Atuhaire, a Ugandan activist arrested and held for days in Tanzania, has told the BBC that she was raped while in custody. https://t.co/OtmxQfv1Nz
Senior Counsel @MarthaKarua, Human Rights Advocate @ngugi_lynn and @LawSocietyofKe council member @gloria_kimani are currently getting deported from Tanzania by @SuluhuSamia oppressive regime. They landed in Tanzania this morning to visit political prisoner @TunduALissu and attend his court hearing tomorrow. CHADEMA chairman and presidential candidate Tundu Lissu was arrested in April and charged with treason, and his party was barred from participating in the general elections happening in October .
Since Suluhu’s took over there has been an increase in extrajudicial killings, serious problems with the independence of the judiciary, and the continued illegal detention of political prisoner. There is serious restrictions on freedom of
expression and media freedom, including unjustified arrests and prosecutions of journalists.
As VOCAL Africa, we strongly condemn the move by @suluhuhassan and @tanzaniagovt to deny Martha Karua, Gloria Kimani and Lynn Ngugi entry into Tanzania to observe the @tundulissu court proceedings.
As members of @jumuiya, Kenyans have a right of entry as the freedom of movement of nationals of East Africa is enshrined in the East Africa Cooperation agreement.
We take note of the growing authoritarianism in East Africa and demand that the governments desist from harassing their citizens.
The court has issued the following orders today, May 6, 2025:
1. @TunduALissu's case will be heard in Open Court No. 1.
2. Lissu is to be brought to court on May 19, 2025.
3. There will be no online hearing; Lissu must be present in court physically.
4. All people are allowed to attend the open court.
5. People should enter peacefully and maintain peace outside and inside the court.
6. A link will be provided for those unable to attend in person.

@robertamsterdam@SuluhuSamia made it clear few days that she will deal severely with priests, bishops and clergymen who support changes and calls for democratic reforms. The situation is escalating. We need a quick intervention.
We are deeply saddened and shocked by the assault on Father Charles Kitima yesterday night. We pray for his recovery and that he can continue his important work in support of all Tanzanians’ right to education, democracy and freedom of speech.
Shocked by the attack on Fr Charles Kitima. Wishing him a swift and full recovery. Violence is unacceptable. The attack should be thoroughly investigated and fundamental rights protected.
We believe approach to gender balance in leadership should prioritize merit, capability, and readiness over fixed quotas. While promoting women's participation is essential, leadership roles must be earned through demonstrated competence, vision, and a clear commitment to public service.
It is also important to recognize generational dynamics in leadership readiness. Many older individuals, particularly women shaped by traditional norms, may not have had the same opportunities for leadership development. At the same time, a new generation of young, capable, and motivated women in Tanzania is prepared to lead and drive change.
We therefore urge policymakers to implement a gender balance strategy that takes both merit and generational readiness into account. The focus should be on empowering qualified individuals, not fulfilling quotas for symbolic representation.
We demand gender balance that comes with age cage. @SuluhuSamia is not fit for the role she has been given. She must resign now.@Keir_Starmer, we are protesting next week at Westminster. While
Policy for gender balance is pushed through as donor of many commonwealth countries the commitee should bring this to account.
