Significant victory for Malian and Russian troops in Mali today, as they have avoided disaster in Anefis and appear to have survived a multi-day siege on the garrison there. The attackers could not break into the base despite it being isolated for days and with minimal cover.
This is what Islamic State seized from Mozambique army in the last battle in Macomia literally a few days ago, where they also fight Rwanda. JNIM weekly is able to showcase similar photosets...in dozens of separate cases across Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger or Benin.
The Russian Africa Corps and the Malian army have retaken control of the town of Anéfis as of the evening of July 8, loyalist troops have discovered charred vehicles belonging to the JNIM/FLA coalition.
The rebel coalition appears to have withdrawn from the immediate vicinity of the town and camp of Anéfis due to the large reinforcement convoy arriving, escorted by drones of the Malian and Nigerien Air Forces.
Both sides are likely preparing for a larger showdown as the rebel coalition also masses up troops including reinforcements from JNIM's central Malian Massina Katibah, which was also the case during the capture of Kidal in April earlier this year.

Pressure continues to mount on Gianni Infantino following the decision to suspend USMNT striker Folarin Balogun’s one-match ban at the World Cup, with more than 70 European lawmakers calling for an investigation into FIFA and its president regarding the principle of political neutrality.
Balogun was sent off in the U.S’. round-of-32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina and was set to be banned for the round-of-16 game against Belgium, though FIFA’s independent disciplinary committee suspended the ban and the 25-year-old subsequently started in the 4-1 defeat.
Before the match, Belgium appealed the decision but it was dismissed by FIFA, global soccer’s governing body.

Significant development in the war: my unit, 413th "RAID" @Raid_413, hit a russian S-400 "Triumf" SAM near Bryansk region, 92 km deep into Russia.
That's only 2nd S-400 kill of the war - these are quite rare. I never knew they could fire at ground targets btw.
