@Architectolder Mu uncle's built us a parquet topped oak dining table that's overbuilt. Legand is the last penny they had after buying the wood is under the center panel. The first piece of their furniture company that existed from the late 70s to about 1997 when imports took over.
@realwruffian No one's sure how it got plated but it could be military or diplomat allowed to bring it here for a short time. Or somehow got an importer to make it legal but would cost more than you wanna know.
@realfrugalmogul We took 3 weeks from Olympia to Eastern Colorado where 2 generations homestead in a minivan with camping gear for half and motel 6 the other half. Rv would work but you might rent one for a weekend to find out of you're comfortable driving one.
@LaLunaLlorando@ThrillaRilla369 Spring break we'd be home alone all day, neighborhood phone list if needed but there was food in the fridge and we'd ride our bikes to the store 1mi away at that age. Now kids can't even walk home 1/4mi alone. Rural kid I'm the 80's who survived just fine.
@queerBengali Late 90s living in Renton WA my apartment was up the road from a 24hr grocery store. Usually got what I needed for a day or two. More like 5min on bike but it was really 1 Long block between the two. Metro transit or bike got me everywhere I needed to go.
@New_Newco_Demon@ditz_carlton It was still a car central neighborhood in Renton Washington but the grocery store was on the next street east of us with a sidewalk and lights so one could walk there and back.

@hootowl5757@LarryJones We had video land with a monthly plan for a set # of rentals. Dad dropped them off working up the street from them. Otherwise accurate.
