🍹 In this Drink Chat with Nat, we’re tasting the El Dorado 12-Year-Old Rum.

🍯 It’s pure decadence with aromas of caramelized toffee, molasses, and a hint of dark spice.

🏺 Unlike other rums, the age statement on all El Dorado Rum labels reflects the youngest rum in the blend, with many rums in the blend being much older.

🍷 The El Dorado 12-Year-Old may also have the 15-Year-Old or the 21-Year-Old to provide the consistent depth of flavour.

🍶 The distillery has been making rum since the 17th century and houses the world’s oldest stills, including the Wooden Coffey Pot Still, the last fully working example of its kind.

🕰️ Named after Aeneas Coffey, it resembles his original 1832 continuous still.

🍬 Blends are perfected over centuries and crafted in small batches, producing artisanal rum from the finest Demerara sugar, not factory-scale production.

🥩 Serve it neat to savour the depth, on the rocks to soften the edges, or pour alongside grilled pork tenderloin glazed with brown sugar and cloves.

☕ Its richness also makes it a perfect companion for dark chocolate cake.

🧪 Fascinating fact: Master Blender Shaun Caleb was born and raised in Guyana and studied at Princeton University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with Honours.

🔬 He returned to Guyana to apply his expertise in distillation. Shaun samples dozens of rums daily, developing a keen ability to assess the depth and organoleptic qualities of fresh rums long before they reach the bottle.

💵 At $51.95, this handcrafted rum represents tremendous value for such heritage and complexity.
