I know I primarily focus on grand slam qualies when they arrive but I had a look at the WTA Wimbledon qualification matches today and honestly, knowing we need a bounce back day I do not want to trust sub 150 ranked women to get that done for us, so I will instead trust a clay rat to win on grass against an Englishman…. This is more of a Jacob Fearnley fade, in all honesty the Englishman has had a terrible year and I know he got some good wins in the Illkley challenger but you have to look at the competition he has faced as-well.

I’ve never considered Tirante anything special but he has proven me wrong this year, his game is clicking, his serve is effective and he plays with raw aggression, has a great forehand and can end points quickly and these are traits you want on grass, he just lacks experience. To most, they will see the negative record on grass and avoid this but you also have to consider Tirante is having the best season of his career this year and tennis players will improve with time and experience so I don’t think he’s going to go much longer without a win on grass.

There is two paths this match will go down, either Jacob Fearnley will counter punch Tirante into 100 unforced errors, or Tirante will overpower Fearnley and end points quick and I think there is a good chance either situation can happen so to give Tirante a 30% chance of winning this match when Fearnley has had a pretty rough season, tells me they are putting too much stock into that British flag, so i’ll roll the rice on the Argentine in this one.
