Great follow piece to the article penned by Wendy Stueck from the Globe and Mail this spring on the aq'am prescribed burn. Contrast prescribed fire effects with those of a July wildfire. We need more good fire! https://t.co/3wF3x5EfS2
@Rhiannon_Kirton Yes, I noticed that the Premier and Minister Ma both reiterated their request that people not use accommodations for non-essential travel in "fire-affected areas", which includes the southeast, but the order was specific to the area from Kamloops to Oliver.
@Rhiannon_Kirton Because of the "no unnecessary travel to SE BC" request, I cancelled camping reservations at Kikomun Ck PP. I contacted BC Parks about getting a refund and was told "we don't yet know if Kikomun is included in the order". Did I unnecessarily cancel travel plans to SE BC? 🤔
@JT_SwampDonkey Today has been better than yesterday for smoke, but there is some. So now we have a strange mix of some light precipitation (haven't had that for a while) and smoke. Oh, and wind. We definitely don't need a fire now.
Today would have been Rick Rypien's 39th birthday.
We continue to honour Rick’s legacy through #HockeyTalks and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
It's okay not to be okay and resources are available at: https://t.co/P8AZEGvXd5
We miss you, Rick. Happy Birthday💙
Hunting is as much about connecting with the natural world as it is about returning home with food for the table, says @OutdoorBailey.

Classic #marten habitat! 🙂
Actually, that may be more typical for marten in Alberta's Boreal Forest than we realized. I will be giving a talk on that at the @theACTWS conference next month.
@helenipike I've been seeing comments that Canadians refer to these as "Texas gates", but I knew them as "cattle guards" before moving to Alberta from BC. Is "Texas gate" really a Canadian term, or just an Alberta name? https://t.co/Vy2v1SrZxe
@ClaudiaNWT @JessPopp I don't have a pair myself (they're on my wish list), but I have a couple colleagues who have beaver fur mitts. They say that nothing comes close to how warm they are. They're not cheap though:

@JessPopp My Baffin boots are AMAZING. I can wear them all day on a snowmobile and have warm feet. If I'm going to be moving around much, I have to wear just a thin liner sock though.
I think it had something to do with a conflict with another R Markdown file I had open. (https://t.co/P6mBxnJYNV). Closing all R Markdown files and restarting R Studio seemed to solve the issue.
Day #1 and already I'm failing. Not a good start for me to the #ggplotadventcalendaR 😢
I kept getting the following error when I tried to run the first code chunk: "Error in .rs.parsePackageDependencies(contents, extension) : object 'partition_yaml_front_matter' not found"
Today, we honour and remember the late Rick Rypien.
His legacy continues to make an impact surrounding mental health awareness and the #HockeyTalks initiative.
You are not alone.
Asking for help is always okay.
Scaring, guilting and/or shaming individuals is commonly perceived to be the most effective way to motivate them to engage in climate action here on Twitter. But as I explain here, such approaches backfire more often than they succeed. https://t.co/N0oLSSD7l1
