JUST IN: Michelle Obama has been named one of USA TODAY’s “Women of the Year,” a recognition of women who have made a significant impact in their communities and across the country.
When told about the honor, Michelle Obama was asked if she had a guiding mantra. Her answer wasn’t surprising to the people who love her most:
“Barack and I really did use “going high” as a mantra when the critics were loudest,” she said. “For us, going high was a line in the sand, a decision point – a place to step back and decide who we wanted to be.
It’s not always easy to go high, of course. But unlike making the choice to take the low road, going high will never, ever diminish who you are.
It always helps us shine our brightest and lead lives with a little more dignity.”
Congratulations Michelle Obama! 💙

@patriottakes So my husband, a stay-at-home dad, who supported me in being able to get out of the house and work to support our family, is not entitled to social security based either on his earnings before we got married or to my social security if something happens to me?
Vald's post highlights why I liked working with him--he understands that CX and Marketing go hand-in-hand, and that really understanding the customer and creating a good experience is critical for everyone's success. https://t.co/IPoQ38xUMO
Seeing a company finally make a move you've been advocating for on the day after you're laid off...like seeing an ex cleaning up his life after the breakup. Yuck.
Replying to my own tweet. I do not wear enough makeup to understand the 'sticky' reference in the ad and had to dig through the e.l.f site to get it. Seems like a missed opportunity not to connect that on the home page...although I'm also not going to buy the primer, so...
@MayfairLDN_@creation247 Dated perspective. And just wrong. Married men live longer than unmarried men. In addition to all that David Austin has already called out.

Thought of @garyvee's earlier post on kindness when I read the Hireology post about quiet firing. Most of us have probably seen or been subject to quiet firing, and it is the epitome of unkind (& poor) management. When you bury a n…https://t.co/nx3b17Xmyr https://t.co/CCYwwezbOt
