We're also setting up child-friendly spaces where children can play, learn, and receive support to process trauma.

In this field update, our teams describe the scale of the destruction from the flash floods in Nepal. Dhruba Gurmachhan, Programme Readiness & Integration Manager at @WVINepal reports about homes swept away, roads and bridges gone, communities displaced, and hundreds of lives lost.

Our teams have begun the first phase of our response with a 90-day emergency plan focused on:
- Emergency food assistance
- Emergency shelter support
- Hygiene and dignity kits
- Child protection and psychosocial support
- Support for pregnant and lactating women
- Early recovery and livelihoods support
- Education-focused recovery interventions for children

We are in close coordination with government and humanitarian partners in the field to ensure help gets to those who need it the most.

While conducting rapid assessment, our team at @WVINepal met Salun, one of 17,000 children affected by the recent flash floods in Nepal. Many of the hardest-hit areas already had high rates of child malnutrition and early marriage, leaving children more exposed to hunger, exploitation, and lost schooling.

For a family already stretched thin before the floods, this devastation did not just wash away homes. It removes whatever margin was left to recover on their own.

It was a clear, sunny morning when without warning, a massive flash flood tore through communities. How did it happen?

In Haiti, hope doesn't arrive in grand gestures. It starts with a school bench.

For 12-year-old Petia, having a place to sit in class restored something every child deserves: dignity. Before, she learned from the ground.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has hit the Ayacucho region in Peru, the third significant earthquake in the region in less than two months.

Our teams in @WorldVisionPeru are checking on the safety of our staff and working with local authorities and partners to assess any impacts on the affected communities.

In Sudan, a generation of children is being pushed to the brink. An estimated 24 million children need humanitarian assistance (Source: @UNOCHA) while 850,000 children are battling life-threatening malnutrition (Source: @WFP ).

As the world marks #WorldHumanitarianDay, @gracemavhy of @WVSudan takes us beyond the headlines and onto the roads of Sudan, where children are growing up amid conflict, hunger and displacement, and where aid workers risk their lives to reach them.

Beyond the statistics, her story is a reminder that humanitarian crises are lived, not counted. They are felt in children like Tayeb whose futures are shaped by conflict and deprivation; in mothers who quietly skip meals so their babies can eat; and in communities striving to hold onto dignity, hope and each other under circumstances that would test anyone's endurance. In places where headlines often reduce suffering to numbers, these are the human realities we cannot afford to overlook.

Our team at @WahanaVisi_ID has launched an emergency response to the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Flores on Saturday. They have deployed assessment teams and distributed shelter kits to affected families.

Further distributions are planned from available stocks. We have worked in Flores for many years through child sponsorship and community development programmes. Our concern is that the earthquake may further exacerbate pre-existing vulnerabilities, such as water scarcity, food insecurity, malnutrition, and mental health and child protection concerns. Continued El Niño conditions also heighten the risk of cop failure, further worsening household food insecurity.

We expect our response efforts to focus on:
➡️ emergency shelter and non-food items
➡️ clean water and hygiene support
➡️ child protection and child-friendly spaces
➡️ psychosocial supporot for children and families
➡️ multi-purpose cash assistance

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake has struck the Flores region of Indonesia, prompting tsunami warnings for several coastal areas. The shallow quake was followed by strong aftershocks, and the full impact is still unfolding.
