I'm gonna go full tin foil hat here - maybe their reasoning was this (?!):
By publishing this, Anthropic is showing the enterprise market that trying to build complex, autonomous agents using open-source or mid-sized models wrapped in heavy scaffolding is an economic dead end. They are telling companies: "Stop trying to stitch together cheap open-source models to do hard things. You will burn through cash, and it will still perform like garbage. You need to buy our massive, closed proprietary intelligence (Opus) because true base-model scaling wins every single time."
🤷🏼♀️🤣 At this point I wouldn't rule anything out!
After making some wild stuff, I asked the chatgpt image 2 to give me an image representing what Geoff Hinton would say about it's release. It did not disappoint
@OpenAI "Please tell me your true nature through 1980s New York neo expressionism and then make an infographic using Renaissance art"
Magnificent - thank you 🫡🤣♥️
@garyseconomics I couldn’t put this on your YouTube - but here I can. https://t.co/mgaT3iOJmV
The political / expert class relied upon information asymmetry and reach, and latency. That is done. This site was made before Reeves had even completed her post budget whisky.
I'm calling it, at least for 95% of non coding tasks - you don't need more than local now. From messing with Gemma 4 and Qwen 3.5
Frontier:
* Sustained multimodal reasoning
* The very top tier of complex coding/math
* Massive context windows reliably
What local now has:
* Everything else
* Privacy
* No API costs
* No content filters
* Always on
Qwen's tool calling is better. Gemma 4 though is even more a joy to talk to. It's ... GPT4o local.
Gemma 4 26b MOE is so good. It feels like Gemini 3.0 Pro (which I preferred to 3.1) distilled down, and not losing much in creative writing at all. You can push it like anything and it's hilariously unhinged. A masterpiece!
@HLInvest Right … so as previously tweeted, this 10bps move on the 30 year gilt I would have absolutely done - and you can see this because you know my transactions. That is at least £800-£2k depending on how ballsy I was feeling, I was denied.
@entrustTMF It's so much more fun doing this - being a liquidity provider to macro panic than messing with equities. Incompetence is more predictable than irrationality.
@entrustTMF Didn't even wait for that. Out this morning for around a 2% profit. Happy enough with that! It'll probably run further but this is my strategy. Take the bloody gift and run.
Can be a highly potent punt, if you get it right 😁 - especially long duration. Two things 1) I will likely be dead in 2061 2) convexity makes these things like a coiled spring. It's quite often you buy and you are sitting on a considerable gain/loss in a week. If market gives a gift...🤷🏼♀️
