Focusing on the super important topic of mental health in my @SoundGirlsOrg blog this month. As we reopen don't forget to take care of yourselves and those in the trenches with you!
"May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I’ve had a lot of chances these past weeks to reckon with my feelings about reopening, diversifying our workforce, and eliminating toxic practices in every way that I can." https://t.co/pkDfbXnP17
After a week filled with...challenges, we are SO CLOSE to leaving on this #martymoon! I'm so excited I can literally taste the gravel.
If you want to keep up with our progress as we cycle 300 miles together, we'll be blogging about it here!

Fun fact-
In the state of Massachusetts, an employer who is considered "seasonal" (meaning the scope of all work will not exceed 120 days) doesn't have to pay its employees overtime.
We should totally change that!

I was facebook-stalking someone and my first thought was "oh, they must be not using social media, they haven't posted anything since June."
AND THEN I REALIZED IT'S CURRENTLY JUNE.
Was really looking forward to spending this train ride listening to a colleague get interviewed on a podcast.
Alas, within the first 1:14, I realized all 3 hosts are white men, and 1 of them stopped at the Chick-Fil-A drive thru on the way to the session.

A #Pride reminder:
24 anti-LGBTQ laws have been enacted in states this year.
13 of them are explicitly anti-trans.
The fight for equality is far from over.
BREAKING 🚨: Senate Bill 1 has just passed the House of Representatives! This is major legislation that will improve the lives of all Connecticut residents, and work to address many health disparities. It now heads to the governor’s desk!
What is the "sorry" part for? I don't think you need it. How about "I am not available for volunteer positions at this time, and just FYI the sort of work you are asking me to do is typically PAID"
I've been on the train for 40 minutes and once we move I will be able to get on the same train LITERALLY NOW.
Cannot wait.
Also, first @MetroNorth ride since March of 2020!

@stagelight17 Someone on Etsy should 100% do custom gobos. I def contemplated getting one for the wedding back when there were still 200 guests and no pandemic!
Borrowing from myself in another platform.
A friendly reminder that "you guys" is not an inclusive greeting, as a lot of folks don't feel represented by it. My personal favorites are "folks" and "y'all!"

I am sick of hearing @Yale professors on radio shows talk about addessing nationwide issues like #DefundThePolice, #SystemicRacism, and generational poverty without EVER mentioning how they might help rectify these issues in the city of New Haven where their university sits.
It's a slippery slope from "I'm ready to go to a bar again" to "I just invited everyone I know to my impromptu birthday party at Deacons"
Also if you're reading this and you're in NYC, you're invited to my impromptu birthday party at Deacons. DM me for date/time!
