Calling all defenders of democracy: 85+ prominent writers have formed a #WritersResist#WRITETHEVOTE2020 action committee to support national gatherings/readings this year. Will you join us to register voters and protect the vote? Get involved: https://t.co/ohh4FFMyWa
We are hoping to reschedule the call to action for a date late September. We will, of course, keep organizers informed as make this decision.

WRITERS RESIST EVENTS POSTPONED
We are sorry to announce that the Writers Resist: Write The Vote events currently scheduled for March 29th must now be postponed in light of the severe public health crisis in America. (continued)
While some may choose within their own communities to proceed as planned, we ask that any events held on the 29th not be associated with Writers Resist until further notice. It goes against our ethics to participate in such gatherings at the present time. (continued)
"Word-work is sublime... because it is generative; it makes meaning that secures our difference, our human difference-the way in which we are like no other life. ... That may be the measure of our lives." --Toni Morrison "Word-Work" guides Writers Resist 2020. @writeRdemocracy
Happy birthday to Toni Morrison, whose concept of "word-work" inspires this year's Writers Resist programming on March 29. @writeRdemocracy and @ResistPHL.

I'm getting ready for a little respite from the news. Going to a #demonstration later today, and joining #WritersResist. Got to do something other than watch everything going down in flames.
