Four decades of working for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, Social Justice, and effective Nonprofit Management. And, oh yeah, I love fly fishing.
@BenBikmanPhD For me, other than sugar, caffeine is the biggest driver of insulin resistance. I assume this is because of stress hormones. I am literally diabetic if drinking caffeine every day, and not if I don’t. Thank goodness for CGMs, which is the only way I learned this.
@lowcarbGP@DiabetesUK@rcgp@DoctorTro@KenDBerryMD@drjasonfung@lowcarb_aus I’ve proven this to myself several times over 13 months with 2 different brands of CGM. when consuming caffeine every day my average glucose will inch up into the diabetic range, but after two weeks off caffeine it will settle down below pre-diabetes. All on low carb, of course.

A stationary low pressure system sending smoke from Canadian wildfires into our nation's capital and largest media markets, where it cannot be ignored, might just be the surest sign of Divine intervention on a global scale that we've seen in quite some time.
🔥 Wednesday, June 7, 2023 will forever be remembered as one of the worst air quality days in the Northeast's history due to wildfire smoke.
This is all due to wildfires that aren't even burning in the United States. (@willcano6)

This is interesting. Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that working and building muscle at locations most remote from the head would enhance blood flow back to the brain, especially when pushing against the effects of gravity.
In this one, a high-velocity resistance training was associated with improvements in executive function of mobility-limited older adults, something that appeared to be mediated by changes in lower-body muscle strength, power, and muscle thickness.
Lesson: do not idolize the mega rich for their wealth could have been the health care, transportation, and schools you’ve been needing for a comfortable life.
@ChrisPalmerMD@mohelwan2022 @BirdsEy81626938 The question of sustainability is interesting as it apparently assumes the food most conveniently available is what people should be eating. To me, eating keto is the easiest thing to do without relying on convenience and the fast food marketplace. It's mostly eating real food.
@cadwego @hagstromreport Count me among those who do not believe our food system will ever be "fixed" by the next farm bill (or the one after that). What we need is a whole new approach to the dramatic issues facing us today. Can't put new wine into old wineskins...
We called four people and said: tell me an anecdote of your war — the war in Iraq as you lived it. This answers recorded by @gordemer are overpowering. Humans telling their stories. Set aside seven minutes and listen. @MorningEdition@NPR https://t.co/PBcdThusWA
@kairyssdal It’s not like we didn’t all know something was up, given the timing of the hostages being released. But it’s so sad it would take over 40 years for someone with specific knowledge of what happened to come forward. Perhaps the most consequential election of the last half century!
