Hospitality is one of the primary practices that remind us the Kingdom economy isn't zero-sum market-driven competition.
"For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life." – Francis of Assisi
@profntwright In Mañana, Justo González reminds us that we shouldn't stop at reading Scripture, but allow Scripture to read us and our situations. He says that the Word is a lamp (Psalm 119:105), and the lamp provides light to the path. Staring directly at the lamp is blinding.
Scripture doesn't just tell us *about* God, it is God's self-revelation. Scripture doesn't just relay information *about* God's sovereign plan, it *enacts* the Kindgom.
Still thinking about @profntwright's Scripture and the Authority of God.
@OrientalTrading Over the past year+ I keep trying to unsubscribe from your catalogs on your website...and this week I received four catalogs. Is there another way to request my name be removed from your mailing list? Thank you
The Gospel isn't about tweaking your life, doing more good things and fewer bad things, being nicer. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus offers life to dead people.
This is important. There's a lot of misinformation out there about bail reform. We *know* that people overwhelmingly return to court when released pre-trial. Those who don't? Turns out: They just need a text reminder. A thread on how simple tech can help achieve freedom. More:
@SideB4Christ We really appreciated the challenge Sider offers, as well as his humility, which was especially apparent as he clarified which parts he felt more confident about, as well as what he changed/added/clarified since the first edition. Encouraged us to consider our lives.
@SideB4Christ After all of this
I will pour out my Spirit on all kinds of people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your elderly will have prophetic dreams;
your young men will see visions.
Even on male and female servants
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
