Google ha revelado hoy los detalles sobre cómo funcionó su sistema de alertas de sismos durante los terremotos dobletes del día 24 de junio de 2026 en Venezuela.

La alerta le fue enviada a un total de 11.4 millones de dispositivos que tienen el sistema operativo Android en Venezuela: 👇

1️⃣- A tan solo 3 segundos de iniciarse el terremoto bajo tierra, las ondas sísmicas (P) alcanzaron la superficie y fueron captadas por los teléfonos móviles (marcados en los mapas con puntos naranja), Google procesó y envió las primeras alertas a esa zona #1.

2️⃣- 9 segundos después, ya el sistema de Google había procesado suficientes datos de los teléfonos para identificar un terremoto de mayor magnitud y enviar las segundas alertas a dispositivos un poco más distantes del epicentro.

3️⃣- A los 15 segundos del sismo, el sistema continuó recopilando datos de los teléfonos y enviando alertas a un área más amplia que incluía ya a Caracas.

4️⃣- Finalmente, después de 21 segundos de haberse iniciado el terremoto bajo tierra, las alertas llegaron a los 11.4 millones de teléfonos en una zona más amplia.

Google especificó que 1.4 millones de alertas fueron enviadas con prioridad a dispositivos en las zonas donde el sistema predijo que el terremoto tendría una magnitud más severa. Las personas según su proximidad de los epicentros, tuvieron entre unos pocos segundos hasta 2 minutos antes de que llegaran las ondas (S) del segundo terremoto que fue mayor magnitud y más destructivo.

Google también dijo que debido a que las ondas de ambos sismos se solaparon, su sistema lo interpretó como un solo evento, pero ya saben que es un detalle a mejorar.
Tambien precisaron que el sistema funcionó a la perfección porque los terremotos se originaron en zonas pobladas y las ondas P fueran detectadas muy rápido.
