Congratulations @wsucase on ratifying an incredible first contract!
✅ 39% base wage increase
✅ lowered healthcare costs
✅ enforceable protections against harassment
✅ immigration support
& much more
All thanks to ASEs' tireless collective action & the power of a strike ✊
WSU ASEs have overwhelmingly voted to ratify the Tentative Agreement as our first-ever union contract! With 99% voting YES (1,169 YES votes, 15 NO votes, equaling 68% voter turnout), this vote will usher in life-changing improvements to ASE pay, working conditions, & benefits
"Within hours of walking out on strike Jan. 17, student workers at Washington State University-Vancouver — and at WSU campuses across the state — reached a tentative agreement for a first contract. If ratified, the agreement would raise wages 39%."

It was a graduate course in union tactics. Eleven months of negotiating? No deal. Several hours of striking? Deal. Today Washington State University grad students won their first @wsucase union contract just hours into a snow-filled strike. | nwLaborPress https://t.co/egMXFIkBhr
When we fight, we win ✊
Congratulations to @wsucase reaching a tentative agreement after *less than a day* on strike. Incredible display of worker power and solidarity!
Congratulations, @wsucase!
This is an inspiring example of how a strike, even for a just a few hours, can provide the pressure needed to bring management to the table to settle a fair contract. Well done!
“I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish with our first contract—important protections and gains that will improve our workplaces right away and that we will be able to build upon going forward.” #1u#UnionStrong@WSUCASE@UAW https://t.co/HgiN0kGEuG
Our strike has come to a resolution - we have a Tentative Agreement (TA)! Our strike power was enough to bring WSU Admin back to the bargaining table with important movement in wages, fees, healthcare and leave. This TA is the result of ASEs’ collective power and solidarity ✊
We believe that our peers at WSU deserve better. The contracts that we are bargaining are setting groundbreaking standards for Student Employee's working conditions in Washington State! We're prepared to stand on the picket in solidarity with our peers at Mount Vernon tomorrow.
When I was a grad student, a union seemed like a pipe dream. I am so glad so many current grad students have one and are fighting for better working conditions.
Solidarity with @wsucase! Academic student employees at Washington State University are ready to strike starting tomorrow to win a fair contract. Sending you all solidarity from Philly 🫡
WSU Academic Student Employees demand that Vice President Chilton stop trying to intimidate workers and start moving to reach agreement. We reiterate: unless WSU Admin comes to a fair agreement with us we will be on the picket line tomorrow.
WSU Academic Student Employees deserve better. We expect a fair contract by January 17. If WSU Admin does not deliver, we are ready to strike #CougsOnStrike#WSU
My wife is teaching a 300 level history course this semester independently and is making the same salary she did as a TA TWO YEARS AGO. She is making the same as first year graduate students. Tell me how this is fair @WSUPullman? 5 days! @WSU_Cougar_Pres
