Commemorating Islay's story of WW1 and the incredible events of 1918

100 years ago Monday, the US troop ship SS Tuscania was sunk by a German torpedo in these waters off Islay’s Mull of Oa during World War I. The American Monument was erected on the cliff overlooking the Mull after the war to honor the lives lost that day.
