@churchill_alex David Jones (artist/poet) #ww1 RWF (pictured: via @ww1lit) did the opposite. He looked on the trenches & no-man’s land as a rugby pitch, trying to imagine what the hell was going on! I learned from https://t.co/2BPm9yCWm6 who I interviewed 12 years ago about his friend.
@UniofOxford@engfac Great War Archive collected images of these objects related to the grave of the unknown warrior concerning David J Williams who had been commissioned to do the ironwork. Plaque, telegram, and photo of the coffin. #WW1#Armistice

The @NLWales has wonderful collection from David Jones' career. @hurricaneally researched this for @ww1lit with help from Jones' friend Colin Hughes. Here is Michael Sheen reading the boast of Dai Greatcoat from In Parenthesis https://t.co/VP9TPFQ3J9 #ww1#poetry#Cymru#Somme
102 years ago today Pte Humby, 36th Bn AIF was in front of a Field General Court Martial on account of his reluctance to get up. His response to being asked to move is one of the finest things I’ve read of the war.
Tweeted before but it’s SO good it deserves another outing. #WW1
Wonder if there will be anything about Studdert Kennedy the vicar of St Paul's, #Worcester who as a chaplain on the #WesternFront wrote "rough poetry" & became known affectionately by the Tommies as "Woodbine WIllie".
Some training yesterday & all the volunteers led by @war_fallen are prepared - they just need you to come along to the @WW1Centenary#WW1 and #familyhistory collection day on Friday 15 March 10:00-14:30 at St Helen's Church, High Street, #Worcester WR12HN.
