After several failed attempts to get AI to debug my code, I finally threatened to cancel my subscription if it didn’t get it right this time…
It fixed the bug
@lumpsssss@AllyTaft@mikesmith187 About the same as the Miele being recommended every other comment.
Yes it’s expensive but if you buy a new $200-250 shark from Amazon every few years it’s no different cost wise over time and the Sebo will easily last 10+ years .
@lloydyofficial@AllyTaft@mikesmith187 Built for life. Great warranty. Nothing wrong with Miele but Sebo is the way to go if you’re buying for more than just the high end name.
Get $20 off coupon “for my loyalty” for a brand I like.
Go shop for a new purchase… $89
“Ok sweet I can get it for $69, let’s do this”
Tax + shipping was $19.
Total at checkout $88 😑
Not what you asked directly but one thing I've wished for a better ui/ux after making the change is audio related. Setting audio quality, bitrate, etc. Yes, it's all just a settings file but something a bit more joyful to use and swap sources, quality, etc would be a nice touch to help audiophile types switch
@TheRickyDotNet@dhh@FrameworkPuter Glad to hear it worked! Yeah it's easy to now get deep into customizing it and getting all the apps that matter most to you but that's half the fun of Linux anyways.
Tested out Omakub from @dhh and damnnnnn, this could make so many Mac loyalist dev friends of mine consider the move to Linux.
Great work and thank you DHH for putting this together 🙏
@ZeClint Loaded it up on a couple year old windows machine I had. Love my Mac, don't get me wrong, but having Linux on my second workstation has made me use it for my development work 10x more than I was using it prior with windows.
That's unfortunate. I'm sure @dhh would want to learn about bugs or causes of this if you have anything more to share.
Did you try again on another fresh install? There are a few prompts that are part of the setup that may have done something wacky so you could try with minimal add-ons baked in.
You can always play it safe to start. Just make the bootable USB and launch ububtu from that. Then install omakub on that environment and play around all while your main hdd remains untouched.
The other thing you could do is just partition a portion of your main drive and the install Ubuntu to that partition from the bootable USB. Then you've got a dual boot system and your old systems and files remain in tact.
I did mine on my old gaming PC that I no longer use. It was a pretty powerful machine when I built it 3-4 years ago and the install went without a hitch. Now I can run some bare metal containers from home and save a good chunk of change and see better performance.
Wish I could help you more but a fresh install of the correct Ubuntu and then don't do anything to the system before installing omakub should get you there. Otherwise maybe DM DHH about it.
@WheelbarrowDgtl@dhh It's fun as a tech fiddler to try these new repos. Omakub definitely has some stickiness to it that some other Linux distros don't especially for people switching to Linux for the first time.
@levelsio@oldestasian@WHOOP @chargerlessxyz Your ugly scale is out of whack, or you haven't seen much ugly shit.
He was excited to share his own evolution in this category and I think it's major step up visually from whoop.
Unsubscribed to so many marketing emails over the last week.
What's amazing is how many of them seemingly ignore this and still send me emails. Gotta be illegal, no?
